ANOTHER GREAT LUNCH AT P.F. CHANG’S
My partner and I have eaten at P.F.Chang's on many occasions, both in London and in Dubai, and we do so quite regularly because the food tastes great, is consistently good, and the table service is always friendly. The building itself (10 Newport Street) has something of a cool history too in as much as it was in the basement there that the Studio 51 club was located (a jazz club that turned R&B and rock-and-roll during the 1960s) and it was where Eric Clapton apparently had his first gig. The Rolling Stones had residency there in 1963 and The Beatles were visitors too. How cool was that ? Because Chang's has an exciting menu, both food-wise and drinks-wise too, and because the London restaurant is very conveniently located being in roughly midway between Leicester Square and Seven Dials, it is popular and does get pretty busy and buzzy at times ... but the atmosphere is great, it’s not too loud, and the food is well worth waiting for (if you have to wait, which is not usually the case because service is usually on point). Our favourite starter is The Original Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wraps which are just awesome (wok-seared chicken, mushrooms, spring onions and water chestnuts served with rice sticks and crisp lettuce cups) but The Original Dynamite Shrimp starter is pretty jolly good too. Actually, all of the starters are really nice ! Of the very tempting main dishes (we've tried nearly all of them over the past few years) our particular favourites are the Sesame Chicken dish (sliced chicken breast, broccoli, red peppers, onions and a delicious sauce) and the Mongolian Beef dish (tender steak caramelised with a tasty dark soy sauce and garlic served with spring onions). There are plenty of tasty dishes to choose from. The desserts are all pretty wicked as well but my personal favourite is the Banana Spring Rolls drizzled with caramel and vanilla sauce and served with coconut pineapple ice cream. One complaint I have though, about the desserts, is that my partner keeps helping herself to my desserts because they're apparently way too tempting to resist ! I wouldn't attempt to name all of the hard-working staff at P.F. Chang's who have served us on previous visits as there have been many ... but a particular hats-off to Sasha Fernando who was most recently so friendly and efficient and he seems to have a good team around him. Thank you Sasha. Bravo.
