Personal Capital has been a great tool for getting a complete picture of my family's financials. Love the different reviews that are available on our portfolio as well retirement planner. Only major issue is that some times expenses are double counted when my checking account is being pulled, or annual fees for investment funds are counted as credits. Once those are straighten out definitely a 5 star rating.

Once you've got the basics of "don't spend too much" down from Mint, Personal Capital really is the next step. See all your accounts (ALL of them, credit cards, retirement accounts, etc) in one place. A giant net worth line chart on the home page so you can see what's happening. An amazing "investment checkup" tool that compiles all your investments and tells you if you've got too much stock, or not enough alternatives or whatever. Great tool. I check it weekly. They also send a weekly email with where you're at with spending compared to the same week the month before. Very eye opening and gets me to ask myself different questions than before. "What was I spending so much on last month?" or "Huh, why is the third week of the month always my spendy one? What can I do about that?"

I have been using Personal Capital for a long time and I have loved it. But the app seems to be aging now. No major features/changes in a long time. The UI has remained more or less the same. And with so many new apps with more and more features and much better UI popping up, I am inclined towards trying new options.

I think I check personal capital more than I check my Facebook. I would recommend this to anyone. Knowing your money is the best way to make good financial decisions and personal capital helps to do that every day!
