More Budgeting
For a free platform, this is incredibly solid. The only thing I like Mint more for, is the granularity of Budgeting and Categories with sub-categories. If that could be expanded, this would easily be 5 stars.

I love having a place to keep up with everything for free, a safe place that respects my Hustle. Although, I'm good enough to run my own portfoliio, PC has helped me realize which Assets of mine have too high of an Expense ratio. For that I am eternally grateful though if I did let this institution balance my holdings I'd be paying as much in expense ratio as a cost for management; which is a bit counterintuitive.

Spoke with Tom Salvatierra who handles high net worth accounts and explained that their software was not working for me. He spent half an hour trying to convince me that it was great software when it clearly did not work. I shared my screen and showed all the problems and he was incredibly dismissive of them, saying that "We have 2.5 million people who are happy". He suggested he send me a lot of tutorial videos, which is a poor substitute for well-designed software. When you boot up the software it gives you a bunch of incorrect information, some of which can probably be configured to be correct, but much of which is incorrectly labeled and thus highly confusing. For example "retirement savings" means the net inflow-outflow of retirement monies in some arbitrary set of accounts for the calendar year, but there is on way to understand that, and it's not what any normal person would think "retirement savings" means. In general the company does not have receptivity to understanding their problems and fixing them and thus it's a big mess. Would be really useful if it worked at all. If you work at PersonalCapital and are reading this, take a listen to the call 1/6/21 10:30am. You would have 3x the business if you had working software. You should fire your product managers, they really suck and someone needs to be in charge of actually listening to customer problems.

About 2 years ago, I remember seeing an ad for Personal Capital on a YouTube video. I looked into it, and really liked the broad depth of account aggregation abilities available. I decided to sign-up for an account, and I have loved it ever since! I love the being able to see all my accounts in one place! You don't know how helpful to see all my credit cards, bank accounts, and loan accounts all in one place. I can quickly glance over everything once a day, and make sure everything is in check. The data visualization tools are really good too! I haven't tried Mint, but I hear it is better for budgeting, but I can't really see how. I think the categorical pie chart PC uses is really good, zooming in when you click on specific categories. I guess maybe PC doesn't have push notifications if you spend so much in a category, but again, I look over all my accounts once a day, so I know when I need to constrict, or when I can expand my spending. And their service has been excellent too! When I have had some account aggregation issues, they have been able to update links, or reprogram on their end within a day or two.

Have not resloved issue with my bank in over a month.
Response from Personal CapitalJan 29, 2021
Hi Ponce, If you could email [email protected] we would be happy to look into your aggregation/syncing issues and see if we can help. Often times these syncing issues with an individual bank are a result of recent feeds being updated on their side (which we don't have control over) but we can reach out to the initution and try to find a resolution to correct the syncing error.

I used to use mint before and I was hesitant of switching apps and attaching all the accounts again. But it was a great decision! Overall I love the app. I would love to see more security feature for better peace of mind. Great work!
