Stay clear of this company! I just thought I'll take a break from another popular dog sitting company, and arranged a meet and greet with one of the highest reviewed dog sitter on Pawshake named Zoe. She agreed to take care of our dog via our initial exchange of messages via the Pawshake portal. We exchanged mobile numbers and arranged a meet and greet for our dog at a given time and place. The warning bell rang when she gave the location of a park instead of her home - as a dog owner, the whole point of meet and greet is to figure out the place of the dog sitter and ensure it's safe for our dog. We ignored the warning in good faith, as we thought we can do the initial meet and greet at a park and then do a subsequent meetup at her home before making the final booking. Myself and my wife waited with Buddy at Zoe's given destination at a previously agreed time for nearly 30 minutes for the meet and greet, but she never turned up! I sent 2 text messages and left 2 voicemail messages too. Interestingly, she read the text messages immediately (technology doesn't lie!) but she never bothered to respond. This is grossly unprofessional and irresponsible and makes me wonder if most or all of her 5 star reviews are fake? However I am glad we spotted this early on, as we don't feel comfortable leaving Buddy with someone as irresponsible as her. Complete waste of time! We tried to get in touch with Pawshake, but their support page is just a list of FAQs - not a single contact number on there. My warning to all prospective new clients - I just hope that the above is an isolated bad experience, but watch out for what you are getting into. How can you have a booking guarantee from a company who doesn't have a direct phone number? What are you going to do if your dog sitter starts ghosting you on the day of your holiday and you don't have a phone number on the Pawshake website to sort things out for you? Think before you book!

I see a lot of reviews from the pet owners site so here my two cents as a petsitter. Overall, the app works quite well and has allowed me to find dogs in my city to petsit. The platform takes a cut of 19% of your fee, which is quite steep. The insurance covers any vet bills you may have and damage to third parties, but if a dog chews up your couch, you're not protected. Also, it allows pet owners to review you, but you cannot see reviews of the dogs or their owners. Pawshake also asks you as a petsitter to make an elaborate profile, while the owners profiles are usually empty. In general, i've had good experiences but also get a lot of spammy messages on a daily basis, or messages from owners who clearly don't read profiles (i.e. asking me to watch their two husky's while my profile clearly states i live in a 40sq metre apartment and only take small breeds).

I left my very nervous 6 year old Staffie with Larissa in Chorley. This was the first time I had left him with someone else but Larissa was amazing with him. I would highly recommend leaving a dog with her.
