I truly appreciate this service & benefits. I only have an issue with the fact that many available vets offices or closest ones for emergency services don't have the extensive expensive equipment required to do all test so then they have to send you to a location to do the test and that is then concluding the whole treatment process because your leaving from that office but it is a necessary testing that needs to be conducted & are limited in care if you close the case for the reason of transported to the testing location. That isn't then resolving the crisis of the emergency. So you leave with undetermined diagnosis due to benefits conclude at initial office. There should be a exception clause due to limited testing equipment. I check to see how many do have this equipment, only 2 in Washtenaw county have this machine. Not even the Humane Society has it. But I think your staff did a great service for my Macy. And for my stress they eased my anxiety through this process with the financial support. Thank you! God bless you all! Unfortunately, I loss my baby.... But you did give me sooo much relief with consulting g assisting in payment.

I used my PAWP emergency funds. Once I understood that it was a once a year emergency fund and not pet insurance, I was fine. Chatting with a veterinarian on several occasions was helpful.

If I was able to talk to the vet, I would have liked it a lot more. I think texting isn't much better than Google.

Was looking for some help for my pup, 1st time user, was satisfied with the help even though what was suggested was not the problem. I know it's hard when you don't see the animals but I appreciate the advice and help still. Will use again.

I have mixed feelings - overall my experience was positive. I was able to communicate with vets through the night while monitoring my pet's condition. These vets did not advise emergency care despite a very high respiratory rate (in the 60s). However, they were quick to respond and give advice on evaluating his condition. That was through the advice line (not emergency line). In the am I called my vet and they said not to wait on urgent care and to bring him to ER immediately. I went on Pawp emergency line to get it approved. The emergency line was much slower to respond. The estimated wait time was 1 minute the whole time, but it actually took I believe a half hour before they answered. They approved the fund almost immediately and did a brief vid call - the vet was friendly and gave good advice, but honestly at that point I just wanted her to approve and hang up so I could jump in the car and rush to the vet. I would say my arrival to the vet was ultimately delayed about an hour by this process. I also suspect that had I called my vet during the evening and they had said to bring him to emergency, that I may have had a different response from Pawp in the evening. Pawp is incentivized to say don't take them in...vet is incentivized to say take them in...so take each with a grain of salt I suppose. The fund approval and use process was very simple and was refunded promptly. I think this service works well for certain types of emergencies. The fact that they allow pre existing conditions is practically a miracle for situations like mine. I see some other very frustrated reviews and I guess I would suggest (a) call your vet and get their opinion in addition to Pawp's (b) if your vet says to come immediately, get in the Pawp emergency line and keep it on while you drive to the vet and get your pet in - preferably on a separate device so you can have another phone to communicate with the vet (c) if possible take a short video of your pet in distress on the way to the vet/before you leave, so that if they don't answer before you send them in, you can provide some video evidence on the Pawp call - again, ideally on a different device. Verbally state date/time and symptoms that are not immediately apparent in the vid (d) when they answer tell them that your vet said to come to emergency immediately and tell them how long you had to wait to get through to Pawp emergency line (e) if they refuse to release funds because you didn't wait for them, clearly state that the wait time was unacceptable (f) document everything you can - the wait time, the vet discussion, the text logs, and the vid visit (g) the pet's vet trip has to be within 4 hrs of the pawp call, so get documentation from your vet of the time of arrival (h) if funds were not released, submit a formal complaint with the company including above documentation. I hope this helps some folks out. I want to re-iterate that despite these issues, my experience was overall quite positive and the vets I spoke with seemed experienced and professional. If you have a pet with a pre-existing condition I don't think there is any better service available - possible not any alternative at all - so I'm still giving them 4 stars.

I recommend Pawp wholeheartedly, but you need to understand what you're getting for $19/month. The tele-vet access is very useful for avoiding the cost and time of in-person vet visits for run-of-the-mill pet issues. Regarding the emergency fund for life threatening emergencies, think of it as only kicking in if you're in a situation where you have to choose between treatment or euthanasia. The tricky part is a Pawp tele-vet must determine, before you take your pet in for treatment, that the condition is life-threatening. And for some situations it can be hard, over the internet, to get this right without a physical exam. There's a lot of grey area where your animal looks fine on the video, your description of his symptoms is vague bc you're freaking out, she's sick but not dying when you first call, then later craters, and so forth. My experience: My male cat stopped eating, was lethargic and hadn't peed for at least a day. He'd just had a urinary obstruction cleared a couple days prior, so I suspected he was re-blocked. A cat with a full urinary blockage can die in a day or two, so I called Pawp to activate the emergency fund. Long story short, the vets did not view this as an emergency. One said take him in in the next 24-48 hours, the other said watch him for 6 hours to see if he'd pee. To be fair, sometimes a UTI or bladder inflammation looks a lot like a blockage, when you have more than one cat it can be hard to figure out if one of them isn't peeing, and in a big cat finding their bladder isn't as easy as you'd think. Also, my regular vet (who was out of town) hadn't viewed Sebastian's situation as terribly serious--he released him a couple hours after catheterizing and flushing him and didn't keep him for any observation or testing to ensure he didn't re-block. I ended up taking Sebastian to the emergency vet. He had a complete blockage -- the ER vet said my options were clearing it and a 2 day catheterized hospital stay etc. to make sure it was cleared this time, or euthanizing Sebastian. I subsequently contacted Pawp about the claim denial. Even though their vets had determined it wasn't life-threatening, it clearly was a do-or-die situation for my little dude. Patrick and Neera were great. They responded quickly, maintained good communication with me, and Pawp ended up covering the claim. I've since recommended Pawp numerous times. It's a great option especially for folks with multiple pets and/or limited budgets. It's coverage is limited, but if it keeps you from having to put down a pet, it's worth it.

This veterinary help gives me peace of mind.
