Emergency protective is a scam
It became rather obvious that something was wrong with my cat. We took her to the vet after using the online vet help option. She was misdiagnosed so she got worse instead of better. After a few day I once again used the online vet who told me to take her back to the vet. I was hesitant because of the bill I just paid because I didn’t have insurance other than pawp’s emergency protection. My wife ended finding an emergency vet because it was late Saturday night, and took her in. She was then diagnosed with cancer with only a couple days to live. My wife chose to bring her home with meds to comfort her because no one knowledge the extent of her condition. Everyone woke up Sunday morning to the knowledge Annabeth was passing away. She passed 2 days later. I filed a claim on the emergency protection that I’ve been paying extra for. This claims to pay out up to $3,000 in the event of an emergency. Our vet fee was just under $1000 because they discounted some of the bill. She passed June 9. I either filed the same day or the day after. Pawp kept going back and forth with me asking me to submit files that I’ve already submitted and explained that to them over and over. After multiple delays with this ridiculous routine, I began to believe this was in fact a sham. Today, July 13, I was denied my claim due to the fact that “ Annabeth's symptoms and presentation is not considered a life-threatening emergency and therefore does not have coverage under the emergency policy.” So apparently a deadly cancer isn’t life threatening! This of course confirms my suspicions of the sham! It’s too late for me, but maybe I can prevent someone else from wasting money on their lies. As a Walmart+ member, you can get Pawp for free including the online consultations. Take advantage of that if you have it, but avoid paying them for anything thinking they will help you.

Losing Annabeth so suddenly, and with so little time to prepare, is heartbreaking. We're truly sorry for your loss, and we recognize how stressful the back and forth over documents must have felt during an already painful time. To clarify, claim decisions are made by the claim administrator based on the terms of the policy, not by Pawp. If you believe the determination was incorrect, you have the right to appeal. Please, send the documentation in support to your appeal and the administrator will handle it accordingly. Please reach out to [email protected] if you are not sure how to proceed and our team will assist you with that. Annabeth was clearly deeply loved, and we're grateful your family did everything they could to keep her comfortable in her final days.
