Before we joined PACT, there was always a cloud hanging over our daily existence. Our first daughter-in-law has not spoken to us in years. The second is distant and the third has gone silent after claiming we had violated boundaries. As a result, contact with our three sons has been difficult and limited. What we learned from caring suggestions is how to change ourselves to be less intrusive, more curious, listen better, and to be more empathetic. It's been a few months now and while things are still far from perfect, we have noticed significant improvement, especially with our youngest son. We can tell that he is feeling more comfortable and open with us. It's a wonderful feeling. It feels like he trusts us and actually wants to be around us. We have worked through this process as a couple and have found improvements not only with our son, but with each other. The estrangements were taking a toll on our marriage, and we are in a much better place now.

PACT gives me support and has taught me how to communicate better with my adult children, so when the right time comes to reach out I’ll be ready. I’d made mistakes in communication that I wasn’t aware of and it’s a relief to learn a better way of communicating.

Parenting Adult Children - so grateful I found it.
I joined the PACT community in July, and it has been one of the most meaningful supports in my healing journey. Through the workbook, classes, and recordings, I’ve begun to understand the grief and fears I’ve been carrying — especially after losing three family members. PACT has helped me see that I need to come to terms with these emotions before I can offer my grandkids the safety, support, and reconnection they deserve.
The providers are genuinely caring. They don’t just teach concepts — they share real-life examples from their own struggles and growth, which makes the work feel human, relatable, and achievable. Their honesty and compassion create a space where you feel understood rather than judged.
The PACT community itself is a gift. It’s a group of men and women who are also navigating complicated relationships with their adult children. We’re all in the same boat, and that shared experience creates a level of support you don’t find easily. People offer ideas, encouragement, and perspective, and it feels like a place where you can show up exactly as you are.
PACT is helping me heal, understand myself, and rebuild connection in my family. I’m grateful I found it.

Going from panic to a sense of understanding and relief
Prior to finding PACT my dtr-in-law had not spoken to me or participated in any family activities for months. Communication with my son was dropping off dramatically, and I felt like I was being excluded from seeing my 3 grandchildren who I have always been very close to. I felt that I was losing them, and felt very panicked. Working the modules and attending the zoom meetings has given me a different perspective on how my son, and mainly my dtr in law may view some of my actions. I have learned to pause and really think through the situation before I act. Since joining PACT I don't feel like I am losing my relationship with my son. It has helped me understand what he may be feeling. Adult Children want to be adults and make their own way. Advice we give them thinking we are being helpful gets taken as criticism. I have learned to step way back. I genuinely believe Catherine and all the coaches care about us and what we are going through and are here to help. My dtr in law is still distant. She will speak to me if I speak to her. She does not go out of her way to talk to me. She is a work in progress, but I am more relieved about how my relationship with my son and grandkids is. Also being a part of the community helps you realize you are not alone, and everyone is very supportive.

Catherine landing on my IG feed was a godsend. I guess that’s the upside of your phone listening to everything.
I was trying to be everything to everybody. Exhausting which leads to being reactive and getting myself in trouble in all relationships.
Catherine is such a comfort. So honest and real. I feel as though she has popped over for a cup of tea.
For now, I am gravitating to all her classes and have learned so much.
Making this investment has been wonderful and knowing that I have life time access to the program is so great.
I am not in a rush to fly through the program but to do what I can when I can.
Do it…. You are worth it!

Hope for A Healthy Relationship
I have been estranged from my son and his family for a little over a year. Before that we had a strained relationship. The Parenting Adult Children Today (PACT) method has helped me have a more compassionate understanding of my son and his wife. I have learned many tools to help me be my best self — awareness so I respond rather than react; setting boundaries for myself and understanding their boundaries; learning to pause and reflect when conflict surfaces; developing a safe place and earning trust, and so much more. The tools are making me confident I can make a difference in the future. If I had known what I know now, our unhealthy relationship would probably never have happened. My goal is to develop a healthy connection that can be passed down for generations to come. You will not regret investing in your family.

Take This Course To Have A Better Adult Children Relationship!
Communication had been slowly deteriorating once my son got married, ten years 2026. What I thought was normal family life was very different for his wife. I couldn’t fully understand this until Catherine’s calls. Catherine teaches great lessons with solid ‘why’ guidance. Understanding 7 non-negotiables - great first lesson.
Learning about parenting styles and how I was raised, how I raised my son, and some insight from what I knew about my son’s wife and in-laws has helped me understand some major disconnects on why my help wasn’t helpful at all, not even washing dishes. Always be a guest in your son or daughter’s home until asked otherwise. I learned how my parent’s parenting style, performance mattered, made me anxious without feedback from those around me. These video group calls with Catherine opened my eyes and conversations with my son. My three grandchildren are back in my life but to a lessor amount of time. I’m happy I have time with them and hope to get back to a few overnights a year. Never as it was but better than four+ months of no contact with them and little contact with my son. Please take Catherine’s lessons to heart. Her information really works to heal. I pray one day to open a window with my daughter in-law, until that day I continue to grow and learn lessons no one teaches you when you have adult children. May you try Catherine’s course, How to Parent Your Adult Children and heal any damage or even avoid damage to your parent child relationship. Too many parents are hurting these days and Catherine is a true lifeline! A blessing!

Parenting Adult Children Today…
Parenting Adult Children Today (P.A.C.T.) is an amazing organization! I honestly don’t know what I would have done without them. They have held my hand, guided me along the way, and helped me make better choices while teaching me more about who I am and how I got here.
When I found P.A.C.T., I was desperate, afraid, sad, and hurt. I was struggling to make sense of my family situation and didn’t know where to turn. Then, on June 18, something shifted. For the first time in a long time, I allowed myself to wonder, Maybe there is hope for my family. Maybe P.A.C.T. can help me.
That was the day I listened to Catherine Hickem on her podcast. I had considered signing up with P.A.C.T. several months earlier, but fear got the best of me, and I backed away. Looking back, I wish I had taken that step sooner. Still, I’m grateful that I finally found the courage to do it on June 18. I even worried that it might be a scam, but I decided to trust my intuition and take a chance.
My family estrangement began in late October, about 11 months ago—or at least, that’s what I initially believed. As I’ve continued to learn, reflect, and examine the past three years, I’ve come to realize that the estrangement didn’t happen overnight. It was a gradual process that had been building for some time. The incident in October simply brought everything to a head.
As I began this journey, I wondered how much I could really change. I’m 71 years old, with a lifetime of experiences behind me. I’ve survived many difficult things, and I sometimes questioned whether I could still learn new ways of thinking and responding. What I’ve discovered is that change is possible at any age. I’m learning more about myself, recognizing patterns, and finding healthier ways to navigate the challenges in my life.
Today, life feels better. I no longer feel so alone, and I’m beginning to feel something I desperately needed: hope.
And then, yesterday, something wonderful happened. For the first time in 11 months, I saw my daughter and grandchildren. We spent a lovely day together, and it was a moment I will treasure.
I know there is still a journey ahead, and I understand that rebuilding family relationships takes time, patience, and continued growth. But I’m no longer standing still in fear and sadness. I’m learning, growing, and moving forward with hope.
For that, I am incredibly grateful to P.A.C.T. and to everyone who has helped me along the way.
