Trying to sell a certain program
I had an issue where running chkdsk deleted some important family photos from a USB flash drive. On Pandora Recovery I found an article with options on how those files could be recovered, which was helpful. But there is a big BUT. Before that I checked several other sites with similar guides, and most of them felt very obviously promotional. This one didn’t, at least not until I saw which software they recommended first. Disk Drill again. I had already seen it everywhere, so that raised some questions. Then I noticed a feature they have called the software picker. I thought that if I answered the questions honestly, I might get a different recommendation, maybe a free tool or at least a cheaper one. And I was genuinely surprised when I selected the lowest possible budget option and still got Disk Drill as the best match O_O Out of curiosity, I started answering the questions randomly just to see how the picker works, and in about 90% of cases, Disk Drill was still the result. So keep in mind that even though the site is useful, it clearly pushes one specific solution.
