I didn’t expect finding a working recovery app for a Mac with an M2 chip to be such a challenge (most sites I found claim they can recover data on Mac, but in reality they don’t clearly mention the limitations on Apple silicon and just try to sell the software). I tried to follow the screenshots step by step, but what I saw on my Mac didn’t fully match them (it looks like the software has been updated since the guide was written).

I thought that if I answered the questions honestly, I might get a different recommendation, maybe a free tool or at least a cheaper one. And I was genuinely surprised when I selected the lowest possible budget option and still got Disk Drill as the best match O_O Out of curiosity, I started answering the questions randomly just to see how the picker works, and in about 90% of cases, Disk Drill was still the result. So keep in mind that even though the site is useful, it clearly pushes one specific solution.

And that is much more useful. I liked that there are details about the developers, security testing of the software, and a list of file extensions that can be recovered using each tool. So, dislike for the "best of" articles and a big like for the detailed reviews. I hope they will expand this section with reviews of new software.
