Update: the fact that these scammers took the time to add more misformation and lies as well as personal information about my account to the internet just compounds the absolutely certainty these are shitty humans just out to scam people. What a joke. As explained exhaustively to you criminals, ATT verified repeatedly that this is incorrect. You in turn have repeatedly refused to provide any documentation whatsoever at all other than you bill about 16 times a day. Evil people. Evil company. These people are nothing more than thieves. They did fine on my property taxes and I paid them, and everything was good. Then I made the very great mistake of asking them do look into my phone plan. HORRIBLE result. They screwed up my plan, send me a bill for the WRONG thing, and no matter how many times ATT said they were scamming me and did not obtain the discounts they claimed, they will not stop billing me - with every increasing interest. I hate them and they should be shut down and put in prison. BEWARE.

Hi Clayton, we take allegations of fraud or scamming seriously, so we want to clarify what occurred with your account. You enrolled in Ownwell’s AT&T Internet Bill Reduction service on July 6. On July 14, we contacted AT&T and secured a $40 monthly reduction on the internet portion of your bill. During that call, the AT&T representative confirmed that your internet rate would decrease from $42.37 to $2.37 beginning July 24, with the $40 monthly reduction continuing for 24 months. Your existing 1 Gig Fiber service was maintained. AT&T also advised us that a separate promotion already on your account was scheduled to expire in October. Because your services are bundled and multiple promotions affect the total amount you see on your statement, the expiration of that separate promotion changes the overall bill even though the $40 monthly savings Ownwell secured remains in place. When you first contacted us on July 15, the reduction was not yet reflected on your statement because AT&T had told us it would take effect beginning July 24. When you contacted us again on August 11 and told us AT&T had said the discount was not valid, we asked for your current statement so that we could reconcile what you were seeing against what AT&T had confirmed to us. We were not provided that statement. We subsequently reviewed the recorded call with AT&T and confirmed that the $40 monthly reduction we negotiated was applied and remains active. Based on the account information provided by AT&T, without that reduction the internet portion of your upcoming bill would be approximately $60; with the reduction, it is approximately $20 after the other promotion expires. We understand that AT&T’s overlapping promotions and the way they appear on a bundled bill can be confusing, and we regret that your experience with the service was frustrating. However, the characterization that Ownwell fabricated savings or failed to obtain the reduction is not consistent with the documented interaction with AT&T or the adjustment applied to the account. We have addressed the billing matter with you directly and consider the matter resolved.

Ownwell took a case with $58,912 in documented damage and five contractor quotes, failed to present two of the quotes, misstated my numbers to the review board, and then told me — through three different reps — that "everything was presented." County records proved otherwise. I handed them 13 documented condition items with quotes and inspection report excerpts. Result: an $11,992 reduction, about $154/year. My documentation supported a $58,912 reduction — roughly $755/year. When I asked what happened, each rep repeated that all my evidence was submitted. When I pointed out a quote was missing from the packet they sent me, the last rep said it was an "export error" — the quote was submitted, it just didn't export into my copy. So I requested the full hearing record from the county. What it showed: Two of my five quotes ($12,000 fireplace, $6,381.81 drainage) are not in the packet the review board received. The county's copy is page-for-page identical to mine. There was no export error — the quotes were never submitted. Ownwell's packet listed an Opinion of Value of $297,000 — not the $238,000 they told me they were fighting for — and stated my damages as $117,824, double my actual claim, directly beneath my note warning them not to double-count. The hearing recording is 5 minutes 42 seconds. Their rep never mentioned my two largest items. Her only rebuttal was the driveway, right after the district said it doesn't value driveways. The district's pre-hearing offer was $303,412. The hearing produced $300,000. Their representation was worth $3,412. Then they invoiced me for their 25% cut. If your protest is simple market comps, Ownwell is probably fine — it's automated and cheap. If you have real condition issues that need a human to actually present evidence, do it yourself. You'll get the same district offer they got, without paying someone to fail to present your quotes and then tell you they didn't. I'm now filing binding arbitration on my own.

Hi Kyle - Thank you for raising this and for giving us the opportunity to fully investigate what happened with your appeal. After reviewing the hearing record and your case internally, we agree that we fell short. Two of the contractor quotes you provided were not included in the evidence presented to the review board, and the information you received from us afterward—that all of your evidence had been submitted—was incorrect. We also identified issues with how the figures in your evidence packet were represented. You were right to question what happened, and we’re sorry that it took your own investigation of the county record to get an accurate answer. We have reviewed your case with our property tax, customer service, and engineering teams to understand both the errors in the appeal itself and why our subsequent reviews failed to identify them. While we are taking steps to prevent this from happening again, we recognize that those improvements come too late to change your experience. You put significant time and effort into documenting the condition of your property and trusted us to represent that evidence accurately. We did not meet that responsibility here. We have voided the invoice associated with your 2026 appeal, and we have mailed you $50 to cover the filing fee for the arbitration you are now pursuing. We know neither action gives you back the time or frustration this caused, but we believe they are the appropriate steps for us to take given what occurred. We sincerely apologize for how your appeal was handled and, just as importantly, for the inaccurate information you received when you first asked us to investigate it.

I recently paid Ownwell $134.30 for its property tax appeal service, and I am disappointed with the value provided. I have successfully protested my property taxes myself in previous years and achieved comparable savings without paying a third party. Although Ownwell advertises $537 in savings on my account, I have no reason to believe I couldn't have achieved a similar result independently. I also had concerns about the billing arrangement and disputed the invoice before ultimately paying it. Based on my experience, I don't believe the service justified its cost. I would encourage homeowners to consider filing their own property tax protests before paying for this service.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Property owners absolutely have the option to protest their property taxes themselves, and many successfully do so. Ownwell’s service is designed for homeowners who prefer to have us manage the appeal process on their behalf. There is no upfront fee for our property tax appeal service. Instead, our fee is contingency-based: we are paid only when we successfully reduce a customer’s property tax burden, and the fee is calculated as a percentage of the tax savings achieved. In this case, the appeal resulted in $537 in tax savings, with a fee of $134.30. While we understand that you may have been able to achieve a similar result independently, there’s no way to know what the outcome of a separate appeal would have been. We appreciate your feedback and understand that some homeowners may prefer to manage the process themselves, while others value having Ownwell handle the appeal on their behalf.

I have used numerous agencies like this to reduce tax bills. Never, ever have I had ZERO reduction in my taxes. Ownwell accomplished NOTHING for us. Do not use them if you expect results. Highly disappointing.

Hi George, we’re sorry to hear how disappointed you were with the outcome. While we work to achieve the best possible result for every property owner, reductions unfortunately aren’t guaranteed, and there are cases where the evidence and market data don’t support a lower assessed value. We’d be happy to review your specific appeal and walk you through the outcome in more detail. Please contact our team at 512-886-2282 or [email protected] so we can locate your account and take a closer look.

Trash service. Not one appraisal website valued my home price anywhere near where the appraised value was at the time the appraisal was done. Going back in history, it has never come close to even touching the appraised value that Harris county gave me. Ownwell sucks. They just sat there, and let Harris Country Texas ram it up me. Don't use these losers.

We’re sorry to hear how disappointed you were with your appeal outcome. Our team works to build the strongest case supported by the available property and market data and handles the appeal process on our customers’ behalf, including negotiations and hearings when necessary. Unfortunately, even when we believe a lower value is warranted, we cannot guarantee that the appraisal district will agree or grant a reduction. We’d genuinely like to review what happened with your specific appeal, but we’re unable to locate an account from the information included with this review. Please contact us at [email protected] or 512-886-2282 so we can identify your property, review the case and evidence, and address any concerns about how your appeal was handled.

Very deceptive results, claimed I would save $600 on my property taxes, the actual savings were $55. Plus, they charged their 25% fee on the $600 they claimed the saved me. Their website is difficult to find where to end agreement and they do not clearly state the agreement goes until the customer ends it. I was trapped in another year with minimal savings, we will see when the tax bill arrive.

Absolutely unacceptable. I would give Ownwell zero stars if I could. Ownwell was handling my property-tax assessment appeal and was listed as my agent on the county hearing notice. The county scheduled my appeal for a hearing, and I sent Ownwell the hearing notice as well. Yet I received no meaningful response or warning that anything was going to happen with my appeal. The hearing notice itself identifies Ownwell/its representative in connection with my case. Then I discovered that my appeal had been withdrawn. The county subsequently issued a formal decision documenting the withdrawal of the application. What is especially infuriating is that I had already contacted Ownwell about the hearing and, from my perspective, received neither a response to that notice nor any advance communication explaining that the application was going to be withdrawn. I wrote to their support immediately afterward because I was stunned by how this had been handled. As expected, there was no response to my email despite them reading the email (yes, I get read receipts when the recipient opens and reads my email). Think about how bad that is: you hire a company specifically to manage an appeal so that you do not have to navigate the process yourself, and then you find out after the fact that the very appeal they were supposed to handle is gone. No adequate communication. No warning. No opportunity for me to intervene. Whether this was incompetence, terrible internal case management, or simply complete disregard for the customer, the result for me was the same: I trusted Ownwell with an important legal/administrative process and that trust was completely misplaced. The whole point of paying a service like Ownwell is to have professionals monitor deadlines, communicate important developments, and protect your interests. My experience was the exact opposite. I will never use Ownwell again, and I strongly recommend that anyone considering them think very carefully before handing over control of their property-tax appeal. If you do use them, monitor every filing yourself - because my experience gave me absolutely no confidence that they will protect your case or even keep you properly informed. One of the worst professional-service experiences I have ever had.

We’re sorry the county correspondence caused confusion regarding the status of your appeal, but we do want to clarify several important points in this review. Ownwell attended a formal hearing on your behalf on July 16, and your appeal was not simply abandoned or allowed to lapse. We also want to clarify the communication timeline. This review was posted the same day (Saturday afternoon) you contacted our support team regarding your concerns, before our team had an opportunity to respond. We replied as soon as we could with an apology for the confusion, an explanation of the county correspondence, and an update on the status of your appeal and pending results. We understand why the documentation you received from the county was concerning, and we’re sorry it created unnecessary frustration. If you did not receive our response, please check your spam or junk folder or contact us at [email protected] or 512-886-2282. We’re happy to resend it and review the full history of your appeal with you.
