Subscription is too expansive for freelancers
The Subscription cost is too much. And then it is not a guarantee that you will get the job. Use commission based charges such that freelancers are sure to only pay when they get the work

Glassdoor has a review on Outsource.com, too and the reviews there are all negative. Why are they all positive here? The fine type in the FAQs explains that the number of credits to apply for a job varies from 3 to 9, but when you’re signing up as a freelancer, that is not clearly stated. The impression is that buying 30 credits for $137.00 gives the new member the ability to apply for 30 REAL jobs. There’s no explanation as to how they value the job, but it looks like the higher the budget the more credits are required to apply. Then they "guarantee" your application will be seen and opened by the hiring party and if not, the credit(s) will be refunded back to your account. Needless to say, all six of my applications were opened, magically, within one hour of posting them to the respective jobs. They send you an email with a little blue envelope announcing that the hiring person has "opened" your proposal. That’s not proof. That's just a robo-email. My website is hyperlinked and prominently displayed at the top of my proposal and resume but not a single one of these employers who supposedly opened my proposal clicked on the link to my website. I have a website stats program and would have seen them hit my site. I've been freelancing since 1999 and I know the ratios for this process. Out of six applications at least two would have clicked on the link. And not even one of them responded to my application. Outsource.com is a total scam. I paid through PayPal and have initiated a dispute to get a refund, which I received a few days ago. If Outsource is legit, why didn't they contest my refund?

Dear Anna, I'm sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your experience on Outsource.com. We always appreciate feedback on our service and our team is constantly making improvements to help our users find success on the website. I'd like to clarify that you purchased a 6 month membership to receive 30 credits each month throughout the 6 months of the membership. There are a lot of reasons as to why you may not have received responses from the first 6 proposals that you sent including having a complete profile, the content of the messages, and whether follow-up messages were sent. I was not able to locate an account for you based on your description here, so if you would like to contact us at [email protected], we would be happy to review your account and offer some feedback. The reason for having a 6 months subscription is to allow plenty of time to make adjustments to the quotes that are being sent and to provide you with plenty of opportunities to receive work through the website. The notification when a client has viewed your profile is sent only when a client views your quote and you are welcome to follow-up with the client to verify that your quote was read. A lot of research has gone into developing the quoting and matching system on Outsource.com and we have a lot of freelancers who are able to get hired through the platform. I'm confident that if you are open to giving it another try, we would be able to provide you with much better results. Please contact us at [email protected] with any further feedback.

I signed up and bought plan-20 credits a month. The only option is to pay upfront for 6 months with no guarantee. Projects descriptions are very similar and suspiciously short, almost like written by the same person. Budgets are extremely low. After a few bids I realized that it big waste of money. I asked for refund and they refused. Freelancers should stay away from this company. It is a scam.

We're very sorry to hear that you aren't satisfied with your experience so far! I can assure that we are not a scam and have very many freelancers that are finding regular work through the website. All of the jobs that you see posted are submitted by clients who have also created accounts on Outsource.com and are actively seeking to hire freelancers. It's important to remember that Outsource.com is an advertising platform, so if your profile is not complete then this could significantly affect your results. I reviewed your account and it looks like your profile is only 55% complete and is missing a profile photo, portfolio items, and reviews from former clients. Also, it looks like you have only sent out 3 quotes on the platform so far. The reason that we have the 6 month memberships is to allow plenty of opportunity to get hired on the website. There are some freelancers who get hired immediately, but it typically it takes a bit of time to get your first hire. Sometimes the budgets selected by clients are low for what they are asking freelancers to do, but typically this is because the clients don't understand what the market rates are for the work or what is involved in the process. Once they begin discussing the project with the client, then they typically realign their expectations and pay the asking rate to the freelancers. Our support team is always happy to assist you in getting results and making improvements to your profile! I encourage you to keep using the website so that we can get you some work and make it worth your while. Feel free to reach out to [email protected] so that we can assist you further.
