Mountain Splendor was one of the first cabins built in the Starr Crest Resort. The resort was a dream become reality by Randy Ussery Construction. Outrageous Cabins has been in business since 2009 and has grown from just 4 cabins to 53. The owner Thomas Gigliotti takes great pride in his cabins and sees to it that each Guest has the best possible stay and experience from the time of check-in to the time of departure.

The first night of our stay the temperature in the cabin never got below 75 degrees. At its highest it was 81 degrees. I called the office 3 hours before their advertised closing time and left a message asking someone to call me back and letting them know about of air conditioning not functioning. No one ever returned my call. We couldn't open the windows to cool it down because there were no screens, and bugs were coming into the cabin. We didn't sleep very much because it was so hot. No one ever called me the next day, so we left a day early. We left a note on the cabin asking someone to call us, just so we knew the cabin would be fixed for the next person. No one called. A few days after our trip, I still couldn't believe no one called me back, so i tried to email. No one has emIled me back. I wasn't even going to ask for my mpney back. I just wanted someone to acknowledge the fact that the air was broken, never heard anything. Poor poor poor customer service.

Uninhabitable
We were scheduled to stay in Picture Perfect 4 Saturday August 8th through Wednesday August 12th. We received a phone call from Management at 10 a.m. Saturday morning 5 hours before check in. We were informed a water pipe had burst and the cabin was uninhabitable. They informed us all other cabins were booked. We were then given a couple phone numbers of other rental companies in the area. They basically said good luck finding another cabin, there is nothing we can do for you. I felt this was very unprofessional and definitely not the start we expected to our vacation. We then had to scramble to find an alternate cabin through a different company for the rest of our trip. And to top it off we had to make several calls to Outrageous cabins trying to get our full refund which resulting in a visit to the rental office in person to finally be refunded. Would not recommend Outrageous cabins!

Dear Kevin,
We understand your frustration and we are very sorry that we had to cancel your reservation. Unfortunately, situations like this are out of our control. We would normally move you into a different cabin but we did not have any cabins available to move you too. I personally made several phone calls to several different cabin companies in the area and tried to find a 4 bedroom cabin for you elsewhere and recommended a few places to your wife when I called. I felt horrible about the situation and I tried my best to find something else for you but it is hard for us to recommend other companies as we do not know the standards of their cabins. Our credit card system will only allow us to refund one transaction per credit card per day for fraud protection.Your cabin was paid in 2 installments so we had to refund 2 separate transactions. We apologize that you had to wait for the refund but it takes 3-4 business days for it to process. Due to the situation beyond our control we would like to offer you 2 free nights for a future stay in the next year. I will be sending you an email shortly with a gift certificate attached that can be used as cash value. Thank you and again we apologize for this occurrence and we hope that you will come stay with us in the future.
Sincerely,
Kayla @ Outrageous Cabins

Will not return
Our vacation was cut short and practically ruined because of no refrigerator for 4 days. One of the first things we did was go to the grocery store, but when we first got to our cabin, we noticed the refrigerator was not cold, so we gave it some time per instructions, but still did not work, so we called the office and since it was Sunday and a holiday, they said we could use another cabin's refrigerator until the next day, so we had to take our food to the other cabin overnight. Then the next day, still nothing, so we called again and they said they would send someone to fix it, which later on that day someone came and supposedly fixed it, but it was not. We called back again and they sent a repairman back the next day and the repairman could not fix it. Still did not hear anything from the office about what they were going to do about it, this was the 3rd day with no refrigerator. By this time, we had to throw out everything we had bought. Called the office again and all we got was an apology, but did not say what they were going to do about it. We were scheduled to stay 5 days, but on the 4th day, we decided we could not stay there any longer. Our daughter-in-law had sprained her ankle before the trip and needed ice for it, and also she had medication that needed to be refrigerated, so that was on top of everything else that could go wrong with no refrigerator. We could not understand why they would not bring another refrigerator from another cabin or at least give us a mini refrigerator. We stopped by the office on the 4th day and told them we could not stay there any longer and the best they would do was not charge us for 5th night as we were not going to stay there and just a few dollars off our 1st night's stay. Needless to say, it was not an experience I would want to go through again with this cabin rental. It could have been handled a lot better than it was and they would not have lost a customer. It was just a total waste of time and money. We could have stayed at a cheap hotel and at least had a refrigerator.

NEVER AGAIN
The Mountain Dreams cabin was pretty and everything seemed alright, until we got some wind outside. We all were kept awake by constant LOUD creaking and popping in two walls of the house; one of which was the main glass back wall-SCARY! The wind finally died down @ 3am so we could then go to sleep. This was our last night and the next day presented with a 15 hour drive home, so after only a few hours sleep, we were EXHAUSTED. I called and left a voicemail message on the phone @ Outrageous Cabins to tell them of the issue in the wee hours that morning. I followed up with them upon checkout. They could not care less what issues, what problems, whether it was a safety concern of the house, etc. I tried to talk to them first about a discount, then just the fact that the house needed to be inspected. On all fronts, I was met with sarcasm and the brush off. They stated inequitably that there were no discounts, refunds and the house was fine. RENTER BEWARE! That's an awful long drop off the side of a mountain and no one thinks there's anything wrong - until it happens - THEN WHAT!? Mountain Dreams could turn into Mountain SCREAMS!

Terrible experience
Upon arrival, we found over 200 dead flies in one windowsill. We called & were told there was nothing they could do. We cleaned them up and flies kept coming & dying. Sat on the couch to read and a large bug crawled across my Kindle. Rented as a two bedroom, only one shower with an entrance through the other bedroom. Second bed is in the loft next to an open stairway. People across the way partied until 3:45 a.m. (These are so close together you barely have room to park between them)
Several tv's but only one can be heard at a time. Went to read in bed, and another bug crawled across my book.We left a day early. Would have left sooner but everyone got sick.

Dear Kathy,
We do apologize for your bad experience. We do have monthly maintenance pest control to treat the cabins however, certain times of the year lady bugs, flies, bees etc. are a cabin nuisance trying to find warmth or a warm sunny window. We are working with a contractor to redesign the upstairs bathroom to add a shower as we do understand that is an inconvenience. We only have 2 cabins that are set up that way. The security for the resort is provided by the Homeowners Association and should have noticed a party going on at 3 am when they were making their security rounds and they should have responded accordingly and notified us. Again, we do apologize for your experience and we do hope that you would consider us in the future.
