So far so good! This was recommended to me by our vet to help my dog stop scavenging because of SARDS, but it also helps protect her eyes since the hood will hit whatever brush before it can get to her eye. I like that it’s easily washable with soap and water and dries quickly.

I bought this product to protect my dogs' ears from grass seed in the Fall. It works well for this. My only complaint is the black mesh. It looks scary on the dogs (frightens other people on the trail) and impairs the dogs' vision, causing them to bump into me a lot when wearing the hoods.

Black also helps dogs be less aware of the mesh, allowing them to adjust more easily. We've explored options for a mesh with a different color on the outside while keeping the black interior for visibility, but unfortunately, we haven't found any that match the quality we prioritize. The masks fit perfectly. They have been a nice peace of mind. I like that the dogs can pant and breathe freely. They are a bit expensive and I say that because the same type of mask for a horse is $22.

Very prompt in responding to my online question, gave me a discount when ordering, and shipped my purchase immediately. The mesh hood is very useful and well made, though I'd suggest (size L) making a couple of different shapes (a big rottweiler has a different shaped head than a long-nosed dog, like a std poodle, collie, etc).

It had a bad chemical smell when brand new and so I left it outside for a while to air out. I thought the smell would bother my dog a lot but she didn’t seem fazed. It works great to prevent my megaesophagus corgi from scavenging when at the horse barn or in the poultry yard. She doesn’t mind wearing it one bit.

Hi Mariah, Thank you for your review. Yes, there can be an odor to a new Field Guard. It’s actually the result of a softening agent used in the production of our mesh to keep it supple. This softening agent is FDA approved and also approved for use in the manufacturing of children’s toys. We recommend (as you wisely did), to hang the Field Guard in the sun to eliminate the odor.
