My dog Falkor is a 20lb maltipoo and so I bought the small. He wore it around my parents' backyard which is currently quite full of foxtails and he was completely safe! He even sniffed at them and nothing came through. Though he does dislike wearing it. It must feel heavy to him, and after the first time, he would rather not stay outside long if he has to wear it.

Appears to be a great product. Have used it now about 6 to 8 times. Works well and is well-made. My only complaint is it offered a 10 or 20% discount on my first order but I wasn’t able to apply that discount to this purchase. Only AFTER I purchased it was I able to claim the discount. Misleading!

I wish it fit my dog better. It presses down on her ears so they cant stand erect. It also falls down on her nose and gets nose slime smeared all over it. At least it keeps the fox tails out like its supposed to do

Thank you for your review! Several of our latest orders have received recently manufactured Field Guards and there may be an odor to them. It should go away after some time. You may also wash the Field Guard using the following instructions: Sponge with a solution of one-cup mild detergent with one-cup household bleach in three gallons of water. Rinse thoroughly with clear water and air-dry completely. DO NOT USE any abrasive household cleaners. We hope this helps! The OutFox Family

Fits great however I would've given it 5 stars if the threads around the neck didn't start fraying after two uses. Still works, just wish it didn't happen. For fit purposes, I have a 50lb mixed Staffordshire/hound, wearing a Medium. He has a more narrow head, not boxy pit head.

Brilliant way to keep my dog from constantly eating foxtails on the trail. I just wish that it was more durable. It lasted less than a year.

While the Field Guard is made of durable vinyl mesh and is intended to hold up through normal wear and tear, we do note on our site that the product is not indestructible and that the integrity of the product can be compromised with certain activities. That said, we do hear your concern and that of others and are in early stages of considering improvements to the Field Guard that could improve the durability of the Field Guard. Love the product and concept. We are having some unusual wear on the hood the first couple weeks. I had called your office 2 time in one week and left messages, still haven’t received a call back from y’all. I did order another hood so I’ll see if it wears any better than the first one.
