Unreasonable upcharge
When I didn't get a timely response from my first choice tech, I called One-Hour A/C and Heating. The call was answered by an AI bot but I did get an immediate appointment. The tech arrived within 1 1/2 hours of the appointment time. He was very friendly and engaging, he properly diagnosed the problem (faulty relay contactor) and the cause (dirty compressor intake). The review goes from 5 to3 when presented with the cost of the replacement part. If I could have gone to a store and bought the relay, or could've waited for delivery, I would've paid around 12-20 dollars. The price from One-Hour was over $300. But he had it in his truck and the house was getting hotter by the minute, so I was trapped. The part was replaced and the compressor was cleaned. Of course, after completion of the repairs, the tech went into his required sales pitch for their maintenance contract, but that's to be expected from most A/C companies. I simply declined. That's just another trap. Mainly due to the price gouge of the relay, and the profit they take from it, I won't use One-Hour A/C again.
