Title CLEAR Insights on My Recent Experience
I reached out to One Hour Heating and Plumbing of PA recently regarding a non-functioning AC thermostat. From the beginning, I handled most of the troubleshooting myself, explaining the situation over the phone to both the technician and dispatch, who were recording the conversation. The technician still checked a few items on site, as I agreed. Ultimately, it was determined that the thermostat was the issue. While the technician was professional and cordial, the pricing estimates presented raised concerns for me. I was quoted $947 for a Honeywell T10 thermostat installation (not including the dispatch fee), which I found far above the retail price of $350–$400 online. I was also offered a non-WiFi model for $740, even though my system already included a compatible WiFi thermostat that is only four years old. By comparison, other reputable companies I contacted had quoted $140–$145 for the same replacement model. I decided to cover only the dispatch fee and replaced the thermostat myself with a $109 WiFi Honeywell unit, which worked flawlessly. In summary, while the on-site technician demonstrated professionalism and did check the system thoroughly, I feel the provided installation pricing was heavily inflated compared to market rates. I hope that sharing this experience helps others better understand the importance of checking competitive options before committing to a new thermostat installation from this company.
