Online School, still waiting for PC parts
With the kids being required to do online learning from home, a new computer seemed like a good idea. I placed my order for computer parts (mother board, RAM, CPU, hard drive) on Dec. 19th. I place an order on Staples' website the same day. The staples order was delivered in 3 days; but office depot only sent the hard drive before 2020 was over. On Jan. 5th, I called OD customer service, to inquire the status. After correcting their incorrectly entered PO#, I was transferred to the "National" department. After having been put on hold multiple times, I was finally given a tracking number. Upon viewing the tracking information, I see that the shipping label had only been produced while I was on the phone with them. I am still waiting for the package to be delivered from CA to ID, and my new computer is still waiting to be assembled on this end. I figured even with the holidays the whole thing would take less than 2 weeks; almost 3 now. Limited selection, poor handling of orders, lame customer service on the phone and long delays for product delivery, are all reasons I will shop elsewhere going forward. --Update March 2021: After contacting OD multiple times (Jan 27, Feb 1, Feb 24, Mar 1), and having been given different dates of delivery, usually 2-3 weeks more per call, some of my order was fulfilled but not all. Their website has been recently updated with out-of-stock, but still showed my CPU in stock until late February. Each time I spoke to them, their response was 2-3 weeks out. They claimed vendor supply issues, but had they been honest with me to begin with and if their website reflected actual inventory levels, I would have ordered from another vendor months ago. Amazon promised 2 days for delivery on same and similar CPU, with dozens of part options and hundreds of vendors.
