This company has been a nightmare for me, i emailed this company and stated that i was not receiving a verification code on the number that they confirmed that was connected to my account, yet they have not reached out to me to try and get this matter resolved, i have been totally ignored, so it's obvious they don't want my business, this company has been HORRIBLE!!!!!!!

My payment dates read one thing but…
I just got this on 9/27.. today (9/30) I received a reminder that a payment is due on 10/2… How? It’s only been 5 days!! Not to mention the payment dates displayed in my signed documents did not list a payment due on this date! The next payment is supposed to be in 2 weeks & every 2 weeks thereafter! This is wayyy too soon & not fair! For the amount of money being requested for these two back to back payments I could have went with a much better big name company and paid less! It’s hasn’t even 1 week! I just paid this company!!! I feel bamboozed, and tricked into buying this insurance! I was under the impression of one thing when it’s really not that..it’s giving false information and advertisement!!! It makes it seem as initially you’re saving money only to come back & request more due in a time span of less than a week. This scheme is just a way to get customers believing a false narrative to gain their business. I want my money back!! I’m not happy with this! Isn’t the reason for providing the payment due date schedule for transparency? So please do not be fooled.. this should be illegal!

Hi Shutonna, I'm Jaime, co-founder of OCHO, and I'm sorry this has felt confusing and unfair. Our mission is to make insurance more affordable and fit real life, so I'd like to explain what happened.
When you buy, we ask when you get paid and how often, then build a payment schedule around your paychecks. Sometimes your next paycheck falls just days after you buy, so the first installment comes soon after your down payment. We know that can feel close. The reason is that from the day your policy starts, we pay your insurance company on your behalf without knowing yet whether your payments will arrive. Every payment date is in the calendar in your agreement, and we should make that calendar easier to find.
Your payments carry 0% interest, $0 finance charges and $0 late fees. And because we are a lender (in addition to your broker), we report all of your payments to the major credit bureaus, so paying on time can help you build or improve your credit score while you pay for insurance. We also don't set insurance rates; the carrier does. We show you options and do our best to find the lowest price.
Our team moved your first installment when you called on Oct 3 so you'd have more room between payments. We're also looking at letting customers choose a larger down payment with a later first installment. If there is anything else we can look at, please call (800) 220-1416 or email [email protected]. We're open every day, 5 AM to 10 PM Pacific.

Know what you are getting into!
I've used OCHO for insurance for a while, but when it came time to renew insurance this time I decided to look elsewhere due to the fact that I was 1. Paying a pretty penny for liability only insurance, 2. When I needed to drop a vehicle and add a vehicle you had to send over information on a Google Doc form that seemed to never get looked at which had me calling these folks weeks later to get it changed, 3. They don't give you your documents until after the policy renews, causing issues with being unable to work on certain platforms because the documents were not available in a timely manner, but the kicker to me is they renew policies using credit that I didn't authorize and when you try to cancel the policy a few hours in after you find out its renewed they want a fee. They also wanted me to pay a fee when I moved to change my address and that was before they checked the rates for the move. Yes, this insurance can be flexible but they will definitely charge you for it.

Hi Jennifer, thank you for the detailed feedback, and for being a customer for as long as you were. I'm Jaime, co-founder of OCHO. Our mission is to make insurance more affordable and fit real life, and several of your points show where we can do better.
Vehicle changes: You're right about the Google Doc form. It is a relic, we are moving off it, and we are working to speed up how fast we process changes.
Documents: Carriers don't send us renewal documents until the renewal is effective, so we can't pass them on sooner. I'm sorry that caused problems when you needed them for work.
Renewal: At renewal, we pay the required down payment to the carrier for you, so you keep the same payment schedule without paying anything up front. We take that risk so you don't have to, and the arrangement has 0% interest, $0 finance charges and $0 late fees. We also send notices by text and email ahead of renewal so customers can make changes or opt out. Because we have already paid the carrier, cancelling right after renewal can leave an amount owed (including the renewal broker fee for shopping your policy).
The $25 for your address change: Changes often raise the premium, and the carrier asks for a payment against the increase right away, which comes out of our bank account. The $25 is not a fee. We keep none of it; it is applied to premium you already owe and lowers your balance.
Price: we don't set rates, the carriers do. We show you options and use tools like PriceCheck to look for the lowest price, and I'm sorry liability-only still felt expensive. One thing I hope stays with you: because we are a lender (in addition to your broker), we reported all of your payments to the major credit bureaus, which can help build or improve your credit score.
If anything is still open on your account, please email [email protected] or call (800) 220-1416 and we'll take a closer look.

Terrible experience
Terrible experience, wouldn't recommend!!! To much extra unnecessary money. There are so many more reasonable apps to utilize and save money. It's a rip off!!!
Response from OCHOOct 6, 2026
Hi Marquitta, I'm Jaime, co-founder of OCHO, and I'm sorry this felt like more than it should have. Our mission is to make insurance more affordable and fit real life, and I never want a customer to feel they paid more than they should.
We don't set insurance rates; carriers do. The quote you see at first often changes once the carrier runs your full driving and claims history. That is why we built PriceCheck: before you buy, it gets a second final quote from another top carrier, so you choose between two real prices. We also lower the cost of getting started, with down payments as low as $0 and payments matched to your paycheck, at 0% interest, $0 finance charges and $0 late fees.
There is one more benefit I want you to know about. Because we are a lender (in addition to your broker), your payment plan is a real loan, and we report all of your payments to the major credit bureaus. For the first time, paying for something basic like car insurance can help you build or improve your credit score, which matters most if it has been hard to find ways to build it.
I'd like to understand what you saw. Please call (800) 220-1416 or email [email protected] and we'll take a closer look.

quoted a price that I liked
quoted a price that I liked, signed the documents and what the heck happened but the price increased afterwards! To cancel was a pretty penny ripoff also ($174 within in 10 hrs) No grace period. Absolutely stole and lied to me about quoted price ($119 a monthly )After i signed the docs it went up($169 twice every month $338 total). What a Con ripoff. Horrible brand..Also a Waste of time doing all their steps. Absolutely Not recommended

Hi Douglas, we're sorry for the confusion around pricing. To clarify what happened: the initial quote you saw was a preliminary estimate, and the final price is confirmed at the point of signing your documents.
The amount displayed when you completed your purchase was the correct final price. So, no price changes, no resets.
On the cancellation balance, our broker fee is earned at the point of purchase and covers all the work done to get you insured, so it is non-refundable even on same day cancellations.
Please reach out at [email protected] or call (800) 220-1416 if you'd like us to walk through your account in detail.

I had the policy less than 24hrs
I had the policy less than 24hrs. Paid 89 down. Found better policy. Was told I had to pay another 90.00 to cancel. Didn't expect to get the original amount back but to pay another 90.00 to cancel is insane. If I had it for maybe another week or so I could understand having to pay for longer coverage but I didn't even have it a full day yet.
Response from OCHOSep 4, 2026
Hi, we're sorry for the frustration. To explain: when you purchase a policy through OCHO, our broker fee is earned at the point of purchase and covers all the work done to get you insured, regardless of how long you keep the policy. The carrier also has its own cancellation fees that apply from day one. These terms are outlined in the declaration page you acknowledge before completing your purchase. We know that's disappointing to hear. Please reach out at [email protected] or call (800) 220-1416 if you have any further questions about your account.

Do not use them unless you are desperate
I am extremely disappointed with my experience and would leave zero stars if possible. I have been misled on three separate occasions regarding basic timelines. For example, I was repeatedly told that adding a vehicle to my policy would take 24 hours; it has now been 36 days, and the vehicle still has not been added. Additionally, they charge a $25 fee to make account changes, but then fail to actually process the changes you paid for. On top of this, they unexpectedly push you into a third-party loan to cover the insurance, which I definitely did not want. I strongly advise avoiding this company at all costs. I will absolutely not be renewing my contract when it expires.
Response from OCHOAug 29, 2026
We're really sorry for this experience. Thirty six days to add a vehicle is completely unacceptable and we understand your frustration. We have been working through a technical issue with one of our carriers that has caused delays in processing policy changes, and we sincerely apologize that this has affected you. On the $25 charge, this is not an additional fee but an advance on your existing policy balance. Regarding the loan, OCHO is a premium finance lender and this is clearly outlined in the declaration page that every customer scrolls through and acknowledges before completing their purchase. We would very much like to resolve the vehicle addition for you. Please call us at (800) 220-1416 and we will make this a priority.

Said I would get documents within an…
Said I would get documents within an hour I waited at the dealership for about an hour and a half ended up leaving because I didn’t get the insurance documents
Response from OCHOAug 12, 2026
We're really sorry that happened, especially at the dealership. Document turnaround depends on the carrier and can sometimes run longer than expected. We should have communicated that better. If you still need your documents, call us at (800) 220-1416 and we'll get them to you right away.
