I did not complete the application request. I was billed $50.00 on my credit card. I continue to get text from Oar to complete subscription. I respond that I want to cancel. Ican not find a phone number to reach a person. I have disputed the $50.00 charge and found
that I need to cancel subscription before I can get credit.

The side effects are TERRIBLE
The side effects are TERRIBLE! I was so nauseous, unable to eat for days. When I managed to get something down it came right back up. Caused my blood pressure to spike which I never experienced before. $300 prescription going in the trash. Real smack in the face to discover I could have gotten at my doctor for a FRACTION! RIP OFF!

Hey Sheila, thank you for giving Oar Health a try and for sharing your experience.
We’re truly sorry that you had such a tough time with side effects. Most people tolerate naltrexone very well but, for a very small proportion, it can be difficult.
Our licensed healthcare team is here to help, and if you’d like to explore options or adjustments, you can connect with a doctor anytime through your member dashboard.
Regarding cost, you're absolutely right that naltrexone can sometimes be obtained through a primary care doctor at a lower price. We fully support that option for anyone comfortable pursuing it. However, many people prefer Oar Health for the convenience of online access, expert guidance, and support—especially since not all doctors are familiar with prescribing naltrexone for alcohol reduction.
I’ll be reaching out to you privately to see if there’s anything further we can do to help.

These people prey on people seeking…
These people prey on people seeking help.
They wrote a BS response to my review (below) but fail to mention that I DID CANCEL before it was shipped, and in fact, received Notice of Shipment the day AFTER I cancelled… so again, this is a HORRiBLE company that preys on people seeking help to enrich themselves.
You should see their emails no matter how I explained that it was THEIR mistake, the only response they would give is “we don’t give refunds”, leaving me frustrated, confused, and unable to make my rent. THIS IS A PREDATORY, HORRiBLE COMPANY.

I looks like you tried to cancel your subscription after medication had shipped.
Unfortunately, by law, prescription medication cannot be reused once it has left the custody of the pharmacy.
We think this makes sense. Just as we would not send you medication that had been shipped to someone else and then returned, we cannot send your medication to anyone else.
Therefore, we are really sorry, but we cannot offer refunds on medication once it has shipped.
This is something that every member agrees to when they check the box at checkout that they have read and agreed to the terms of the subscription.
Plus, to avoid any unwanted shipments or charges, Oar Health sends reminder emails to members 7-15 days before renewal, just in case that they want to delay or cancel a shipment.
That all said, we are really grateful for your feedback and have taken it on board. We started this business to help people and really do want to make it easier for folks to drink less or quit.
Therefore, we have now updated the language on our website to make our returns policy even more clear to our members.

They dispense 360 pills at once! Watch out.
Please be aware. They dispense and bill you an entire years worth of the rx. You will be billed $469.00. Not the 39.00 a month they advertise. I was told it’s in the small print by “ SHIRLEY” as in surely we just ripped you off.
Beyond that it is illegal in many states to dispense an entire years worth of an rx. I know this because my husband is a pharmacist and we owned 5 stores in another state. I also worked in Big pharma for 25 .
The platform is unethical and borders on malpractice.
I had a horrible interaction after one dose! I can not the other 359 pills. They refuse to give me a refund.
I also made a report about how ill I became and heard nothing back from any provider. This is also malfeasance. These people are scammers. I’m going to the pharmacy board in New York State, as well as the CDC, DEA and FDA! Do not do neither this company.
Go see your doctor.
Your doctor will give you a 30 day supply only and will manage your disease state and any side effects. In 25 years of practicing pharmacy I have never dispensed a 12 month supply.
I of course filed a dispute with my CC company.
Oar did offer me $100.00! That’s not enough! I’m more concerned with how patients are being treated. It’s a sham. Stay away.

Hi Wende,
We’re so sorry to hear that you experienced side effects from the medication. Whilst only a very small proportion of people do, we do recognize that when it happens it can be distressing.
Regarding returns, by law, prescription medication cannot be reused once it has left the custody of the pharmacy.
Just as we would not send you medication that had been shipped to someone else (and then returned), we cannot send your medication to anyone else.
Therefore, we are really sorry, but we cannot offer refunds on medication once it has shipped.
Looking at our records, however, I do see that in your particular case, we made a special exception. Even though the medication will have to be destroyed upon return.
Regarding dispensing practices, Oar Health provides access to clinicians that are fully licensed in over 40 states and we always make sure to comply with state and federal policies regarding how medication is dispensed.
Regarding the plans we offer, the choice to take a year’s supply is entirely up to our members.
We offer three, six and twelve month medication plans, with greater discounts the larger the size of the shipment.
This is made clear on the checkout page of our website. It is not hidden in the small print. In your case, I see that you chose to select a year’s supply of medication at a heavily discounted price, which is common.
Around 40% of our members do this and are extremely happy to get the life-changing medication at a big discount, secure in the knowledge that they won’t run out.
However, Wende, we are really grateful for your feedback and have taken it on board. We started this business to help people and really do want to make it easier for folks to drink less or quit.
Therefore, we have now updated the language on our website to make our returns policy even more clear to our members.
Thank you for giving Oar Health a try. We wish you all the best on your continued journey to drink less, or quit.

Buyer Beware!
I have been trying to get information from this company for weeks now so I can submit my bill to my medical spending account. They refuse to give me the specific amount I was charged for my "prescription" alone- so my account will not reimburse me. There is no phone number to contact anyone and now they are ignoring my emails. Complete scam! Buyer Beware.
Update to response from OAR: I did indeed finally get a response from Neil - but that was only after I filed a complaint with the BBB and wrote this review. Before that time, I exchanged no less than 20 emails with a very rude customer service rep who refused to admit she knew what an itemized receipt was and -after I sent her an example- simply said - “This is all we provide” (the non-itemized receipt). In my opinion the company seeks to not be transparent about how much their “medication” costs and how much they are actually pocketing in “membership fees.” The whole experience has NOT been one which I would suggest to anyone else.

Hey Lori,
Apologies for the time it took to get you the invoice you needed in the particular format your FSA needed. Please do let us know if you managed to get reimbursed.
If not, please do email me back and we’ll help sort this out for you ASAP.

SCAM
SCAM! Sucks all people with an alcohol addiction worries into a money draining theft from their bank accounts. I can see future legal actions being taken against Oarhealth for their NYC backroom pilfering tactics against unwilling participants. When the FCC starts a lawsuit, many of us will be on it trying to get our money back these drugs are dangerous and should not be sold willy-nilly to any alcoholic, who is looking to say sober for health, family and lifestyle reasons.

We’re so sorry you had a negative experience.
At checkout, every Oar Health member signs up for a recurring subscription to medication, if prescribed. This subscription begins as soon as the Oar Health member is prescribed by a clinician.
Members cannot move forward without checking a box that states that they have read and agreed to these terms.
However, we are really grateful for your feedback and have taken it on board. We started this business to help people and really do want to make it easier for folks to drink less or quit.
Therefore, we have now updated our website to make this even more clear.
Regarding the medication Oar Health provides access to, naltrexone is the frontline medication for alcohol use disorder. It has been FDA-approved for alcohol use disorder and is included in the Essential Medicines List (EML) by the World Health Organization (WHO).
For 30 years, naltrexone has been proven to be safe, effective, and non-addictive.
Thank you for giving Oar Health a try. We wish you all the best on your continued journey to drink less, or quit.
