I can't find a way to cancel my subscription with NYT.
I have been a faithful subscriber and supporter if so-called independent journalism for the past 6 years by subscribing to NYT. Financial times are haed, I work long hours and rhe news has become very "Trumpish" which is of little relevance to me as a South African Reader of the NYT. I therefore wanted to cancel my subscription. Try as I may, I can't find a reliable route to cancel. NYT shunts one from pillar to post. On the app they say I subscribed via Google Play, and should check there. When I check on Google Play, rhere is no record whatsoever of my NYT subscription. I drained the account from which they were deducting montey, just to find that they keep attempting to debit me, which has now led to my bank charging me several declined debit order fees! This is outrageous. One should have the autonomy to say: "Enough!" " I nolonger want to read tour articles! Stop my subscription!" To snooker me, when funds were paid into my account by a client, NYT took a massive amount of over R1900 out of my account! I tried to cintest this with my bank, but the bank now claims that based on my prior subscription histoey with NYT, I need to supply proof of trying to cancel my subscription, which I tried to do, but cannot! To add insult to injury, my primary debit card, which NYT was debiting, is now cancelled at a critical time of the month for transactions and other debit orders, further embarrassing me! I am very angry about NYT's cat and mouse game about subscription cancellations and feel like reporting this entity, as you are impoverishing people who supported your newspaper and have acted disengeniously by blocking cancellations!
