Worst moving company. Did the bait and switch pricing that you see online. Had a zoom call week before move. They saw EXACTLY what I had yet day of move they upped the price 7k because 38% more items than initially figured. While my entire house on the street and in their truck. Gave them earliest move in date. Their dispatch called twice to move up date. Both times told them what the earliest date was. Both times they said that date would be fine. Night before date delivery foreman calls to say it might be Tuesday, or it might be Wednesday, or it might be Thursday, but most likely Tuesday or Wednesday. Complained to customer service who contacted dispatch which said that I can't complain if it's 1-2 (actually 3) days after the date. I'm the f-ing customer overpaying for their terrible service. I have every right to complain about it. I've let the national real estate company that partners with them know exactly how their customers are treated

We are so sorry that you were displeased with our services. We recorded everything that you showed us that you were going to ship during the virtual estimation process. We sent you the list and asked you to confirm it. You added additional inventory once we arrived to perform the service. The normal delivery time frame was five to 18 business days to get your goods delivered, but we delivered them in four days. We're not sure what we could have done in this case to better serve you. However, we are willing to have a conversation with you and pursue a resolution. Please give us a call at your earliest convenience. Thank you and have a nice day.

This company is troble and liers and thiffs!
First of all I been promised to be relocated from one state to another for $2400, last minute I was charged $7600. No one ever pick up the phone, I been egnored all the way. The move was scheduled on 1/4/2026. They movers with truck showed up at 9 pm only on 1/5/2026 with the bill 3 times of what been promised!
I called during 4 days included day of expected service, no one cared or bothered to answer. What kind of service is that? After I put my review, next day I got a call to take it down, person promised to take care of me the same way I was already taken care of! Who can I trust? NOONE! At this time this review will stay and no one will take it down until I get my full reimbursement for what I overpaid! Plus full explanation why I was triple charged for the service wasn't performed on time!
Add to your respond:
That isn't true that i had more item that i stated. Actually I had less!!You had list of my items in your file, you put extra yourself. I had 1 recliner when you charged me for 2! I removed a few items from the list. If your employees will communicate with me non of that would of happened! Unfortunately I was left in the dark till 1/5/2026 by 9 pm. My moved was scheduled on 1/4/2026 during business hours which you felt to comply. Putting faults on my shoulder wouldn't resolve triple charge! Also count 1 item is 2 it isn't right! You took 1 China cabinet and 1 recliner. Yes you put them a places along with my bed, but this doesn't increase amount of item I provided. Day and time of move was you complete faults not mine. You sign contract with me and trow me to another company with another contract! That is your fault and you not going to put it on me! What happened with your phone as you never pick it up, that also my fault? No! It's yours only. I went through my list with your representative on 1/2/2026 we made sure that everything is there. He charged additional $450. Then I supposed to pay $800 at pick up and $800 at delivery. I been charged prior$1240! I was forced to sing new contract and pay $4100 at pick up and $2169 apon delivery. All of that your fault! Never blame it on me!
You asked me to call? I did waited for 20 minutes and no one pick up the phone. My time is valuable! So how about you call me and stop lieing. You add additional items behind my back, I didn't. I took some items off, as I transported them myself! You have my phone number, CALL ME TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE! NEVER TRUST THIS COMPANY AND THEY WILL LIE TO YOU AND WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU LAST MINUTE, JUST LIKE THEY DID THAT WITH ME! WORTHLEST COMPANY EVER! As I said you lied! I didn't have additional items. 1 item was counted for 2. I had 33 items were charged for 93. My bed frame was puten a part, they asked for more money to pay to put it together! They stole my folding table, the broke my working table, they stole my wires from my bed, recliner, they refused to take my floor lamp wich they also charged me for. I had to pay on the top of $7600, another $500 to replace items which were chosen by workers. They were ecxozted, worked very slow, i had to do more work for them they they did. I was charged $550 storage for 1 day on the top of $7600. Never trust this company as they lie, still, rub. Dishonest people. No one works 24/7. Moving company must come at 8 or 9 am, they must be well rested and do job fast on clear head. Workers are lazy and thiffs! I never seen anyone come at 9 pm to move clients. I lived in San Diego. Why i had to wait driver and truck to come from Sacramento? 9 hours drive one way? This is incane and stupid! I went through hell with them! Furniture was picked up at 3 am on 1/6/2025, and delivered back not all of that at 9 pm! Why you can't do job during business hours plus there is local tracks available. Why you got driver from San Francisco? idiots!

Galina,
We appreciate your feedback and thank you for highlighting the difficulties you encountered with our service. Your remarks have prompted us to conduct a more thorough investigation into your situation. According to the shipping affidavits, it appears that you included additional items in your shipment at the time of pickup. These extra items were not disclosed to us for cost estimation during the initial scheduling process. We take no pleasure in imposing extra volume charges on our customers, which is precisely why we conduct two in-house estimations prior to pickup. Nevertheless, despite these estimations, we were unable to provide an accurate quote due to the undisclosed additional items. We made you aware of the presence of these extra items and their associated costs during the pickup. You opted to proceed with shipping these additional items, fully acknowledging the extra costs involved. We have recalculated the charges outlined in the Interstate Bill of Lading to confirm their accuracy, and they are indeed correct. You were informed of the charges before we loaded the truck, and you agreed to them before subsequently filing this review. We have provided you with the shipping documents, enabling you to verify the total items shipped against the initial list you submitted. We did not compel you to sign a new contract. If extra items are added during the pickup process, a revised contract must be created in accordance with the Department of Transportation regulations. You had the option to adhere to the original estimate we provided based on the list of goods you submitted. However, you chose not to do so because you wished to ship everything. You accepted the revised contract at the total cost quoted to you prior to loading the truck. Although the additional charges were not due to our oversight, we remain committed to finding a satisfactory resolution with you. We kindly ask that you contact us so we can discuss a resolution. Thank you, and we look forward to your prompt response.

Beware: Theft, Damage, Intimidation
I hired Northern Moving Systems and was never told my move would be subcontracted out to a shady moving company that steals from customers, damages their items, and then tries to intimidate them when they file a claim by sending thugs to their home at night.
Upon receiving my items (later than the window given), I noticed a number of things damaged and my (expensive) floor mirror was completely missing.
I contacted Northern Moving Systems and they told me I'd have to file a claim with the subcontractor, ONCE UPON A MOVE LLC. I sent this subcontractor more than sufficient photographic evidence of the damaged and missing items and they gaslight me, dragged their feet, and refuse to explain how to file a claim.
It had been 10 days since delivery and I had already thrown away damaged items and repaired the items that could be salvaged. At no point did ONCE UPON A MOVE mention an in-person inspection would be needed of my items. Instead, they sent men to my home at night with no warning. Their "guys" sent me photos of my home telling me they were outside and wanted to assess the damage.
This was a complete intimidation tactic in retaliation for filing the claim. I contacted Northern about it and told them I expected them to deal directly with its subcontractors and not put its customers in harm's way or place the burden on us to deal with fraudulent businesses that we never vetted, verified or even hired.
Northern never responded and I am out hundreds of dollars more than I had budgeted.
Beware hiring them. They quote you a low price and then their subcontractors mark it up with all kinds of add on fees (boxing, steps to unit, etc.). On top of that, they damage and steal/lose items. I would have been better off paying more upfront for a reputable moving company.
Response from Unified Moving and StorageMay 26, 2026
We are so sorry that you were unsatisfied with our services. We are also extremely apologetic that some of your furniture items sustained damage during transit. We are also apologetic for the missing mirror. Your service was performed by our local agent. We do not have any hidden or surprise charges. All of our company policies are visible within our order for service that we send you immediately upon you scheduling the move dates. We would like the opportunity to make this right with you. If you give us a call, surely, we can reach some type of suitable resolution. Please call us so that we can have a conversation. Let's fix it together. Thank you and have a nice day.

Please read previous reviews
Please read previous reviews. This company increase our costs by $3000 for the same exact listed items that were discussed.
They are a broker that do ZERO work. Go the you’re local movers. Contact them directly.
I do not recommend northern moving systems and I will be saying that too all my friends, family, and especially my real estate clients.
Response from Unified Moving and StorageSep 30, 2025
Jeff,
We sincerely apologize for your dissatisfaction with our services. We kindly request that you reach out to us so we can discuss a resolution with you. Your initial price was $7866, but due to some increases, the final total rose to $9207. This means your moving cost increased by $1341. It is never our intention to have one of our valued clients feel dissatisfied with our services. Please get in touch with us, and we will do everything possible to resolve your concerns. Thank you, and we look forward to speaking with you soon.

Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware! Northern Moving Systems increased our moving cost by nearly $10,000 on pickup day — even though our items were exactly the same as what we showed during the virtual walkthrough. Their representative had specifically said she only needed to see the large items, then later charged us for the smaller ones she chose not to include. We made multiple calls and requested the video recording to prove what was said but received no response. This felt like a bait-and-switch — I cannot recommend this company.
Update:
Since posting this review, the company’s behavior has only confirmed our concerns. They removed access to the most recent quote, ignored calls and emails, and even delayed delivery as retaliation for us requesting evidence of their mistakes. When the movers finally did arrive, they were understaffed — my nephew had to rent a dolly and help them unload — and they got there so late that they did not reassemble the furniture that was in the contract for them to specifically handle.
Worst of all, they were contacted by someone posing as a “complaint specialist” from a FAKE company, who tried to pressure them to take down this review in exchange for “help” resolving their dispute. After reading other reviews, it’s clear this isn’t an isolated incident — others have reported the same bait-and-switch tactics followed by fake resolution attempts.
The pattern is clear: shifting blame to customers, avoiding accountability, and trying to silence negative reviews. If you value transparency and honesty, steer very clear!

Nora Luna,
We are very sorry that our services didn't turn out to be what you expected. We never enjoy hearing that any of our good clients were unsatisfied with their move. On move day, you added 86 additional items during the pickup process. We do record the large items during the virtual, but then we factor in the box count. We sent you a copy of the completed inventory list in order for you to verify it in which you did. You simply did not report all of the inventory to us that you wished to have shipped. We are willing to work with you in order to resolve your dispute. It is never our intent to leave a customer unsatisfied with our services. Please give us a call at your earliest convenience. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.

SCAM Run don’t walk the other way!
Wow, they somehow were able to remove my first review. This is a scam company! Trust Pilot, please contact me and I will provide all the receipts. This company quoted us 6k for our move from California to Oregon. They never told us they would be hiring sub contractors. The sub contractors they hired were unprofessional and most of them were undocumented getting paid pennies to do the work. Upon the arrival of the sub contractors they told us we are looking at $14k when all of our things had been moved downstairs of our 28th floor high rise and told us they would leave all of it down there if we didn’t sign the contract and agree. No one at Northern was picking up the phone, they were dodging us. After our furniture had been delivered and $1000 in damage had been done, they turned us over to a “resolution” company that is also a scam, is not licensed, no website, and every time I would leave a review he would call me and threaten me. The last time he said and I have proof of this, each time you leave a review they will have more good reviews that will flood your 1 star review and it won’t matter. I have photos, receipts and a huge folder to prove this. Most of the 5 star reviews on here are super fake! There is so much more to what I am saying. This experience caused us financial hardship and extreme stress, no one at that company has a moral compass. They are all heartless and all out to get your money. DO NOT FALL FOR THEM. They ARE A HUGE SCAM!
Response from Unified Moving and StorageSep 29, 2025
Elena,
We are so sorry that you were unsatisfied with our services. We would like you to know that we did not subcontract out your service. We employee agents just like all other national moving companies such as Allied, Mayflower and United. We operate no differently than the largest moving companies in the United States. The reason that your cost increased is due to the fact that you added a lot of additional items during the pickup process for shipment. It displeases us to learn that some of your items arrived damaged. We have provided you with a method in order to file an insurance claim. We are sure that you will find that process to be satisfactory. It is upsetting to us to hear that you think that our reviews are fake. We have a lot of good reviews, and we have a few that are negative. We always do our best to resolve every customer's dispute. We would love the opportunity to resolve your problems with service. Please give us a call and we will do everything in our power to make things right. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Do not hire them
Do not hire them. They are liars. Stressful experience. Total waste of money
Response from Unified Moving and StorageMay 26, 2025
Prabhu Ravichandran,
Thank you for filing your review. Sir, you added an additional nine items to your order and your shipping costs increased. Your goods are scheduled to be picked up in two days. You filed a review due to the fact that your cost increased because you added the extra items. We have taken the liberty to cancel your pickup and refund your deposit in full. If we can ever be of help to you again in the future, please let us know. Thank you and have a nice day.

Pay more elsewhere.. it will be worth it.
High pressure sales. Underquoted the move over the phone and then subcontracted out the packout and move to Green Planet Movers who recalculated the quoted moving price after all of my goods were already on the truck to a price that was 50% higher than what was originally quoted.
When the truck was to arrive, the driver told me that they were coming a day earlier than expected so I moved the delivery from its original residential delivery address to a storage facility in an industrial area closer to my office so that I could accomodate the earlier delivery schedule. The driver then tells me from the road that the truck wont fit in the new space (a space he's never seen or been to - a space that is in an INDUSTRIAL AREA!!!) and that they will have to charge me unloading, repacking and short haul trucking fees. How did they expect to fit into the residential area in the first place? I started to see that this whole thing was a scam. Charge more at packout - because my stuff takes up so much more space (they essentially packed like 3 items per box so of course that means MORE BOXES!), and charge more at delivery - because the truck doesn't fit. But in this case, how the heck does a truck not fit in an industrial area?! I was able to 'win' on this front and they conceded that their truck did actually fit near the storage units door but that they would have to walk an extra 70 feet to my locker - so I had to pay for the extra 70 feet. Better than paying the extra thousands they were trying to get out of me, but they got their pound of flesh in the end (read on!)
At the time of the load-up and signing of the contract, I EXPLICITLY told the customer support team on the phone to charge ALL the charges to my credit card at the time of the packout and load. I didnt want to deal with these people any more, I wanted to be over with it, but when the goods arrived, at 4:30pm on a Friday night, Green Planet Movers would not release my goods to me unless I gave them $2500 CASH. They refused to accept and/or charge my credit card. I was told in no uncertain terms if I wasn't able to find $2500 cash to offload my goods (at 4:30pm on a Friday night) they would charge me $1500 for a redelivery. Complete nightmare situation. Lesson learned. The price over the phone was way too good to be true. It cost me not only money, but extreme distress, worry and aggravation and hours of my time on the phone trying to reach someone in customer support to help me, running around trying to scrape up the cash to release my goods. Horrible horrible experience.
I have read the other reviews where they say they are not brokers, but when I was on the phone with Northern's customer support person trying to get help with the $2500 extortion situation, the guy very clearly said to me "I can't help you because we are a broker"
So, it seems like they are a carrier when it suits them but then a broker when its time to evade responsibility. Convenient.
There seems to be a lot more details in the negative reviews than in the positive ones, so I think that might also be a sign that the positive ones might not be so 'genuine' ... TrustPilot - please take a look at those.
-----------------------------
As a follow on to this review... the company hired a 'fake' mediator to harass me into taking my post down under the guise of mediating a claim to get me my money back. The mediator claims to have found my information through my IP address through TrustPilot. I have reached out to TrustPilot directly to confirm if they share their users IP addresses with companies, but they have not replied. Regardless, all Northern needed to do was look at the dates of service an my complaint and know who I was. They also threatened my job - and threatened to report my review to my professional licensing board. Which I hope they do because as I have been slowly unpacking my things I have found boxes of destroyed and broken items because they were packed so poorly (by these so called "professional movers") Four massive clay pots they just stacked into each other - with no padding or bubble wrap (about $600 worth - all broken into pieces) They packed an antique mirror with zero paper or bubble wrap and jammed into a wardrobe box with shop vac and a blanket. Huge boxes were used to pack just 2 or 3 items with little proper padding in them so the boxes were got crushed in the move. (remember, more boxes take up more space in the truck - which means more $$ for them!) I would love to post photos of here so that folks can see all of my broken things, the crushed boxes, and how unprofessional the packing was ... So please NorthernMovers, please do report me to my professional licensing board - it will give me a yet another chance to expose you and your business practices for what they are.
Response from Unified Moving and StorageMay 26, 2026
We sincerely apologize for your dissatisfaction with our services. During the pickup process, you added extra inventory to your order, which resulted in increased volume charges. We provided an explanation of the charges, which you accepted. To assess the delivery area, we utilized satellite imagery. Our deliveries are conducted using semi-truck units, and we recognized that the semi-truck would not be able to access the area. Consequently, we had to employ a shuttle truck. All of our charges are clearly outlined in our order for services, and we pride ourselves on being transparent about everything. Nevertheless, it is never our intention to leave any of our valued clients feeling displeased or unsatisfied. We kindly request that you contact us so we can reach an appropriate resolution. We genuinely wish to rectify this situation and look forward to speaking with you soon. Thank you and have a pleasant day.
