If I could give zero I would. To get to the page where you can cancel you subscription requires a separate sign in (I was logged in to my account, had to log in again) and required not only my account sign in and password but for me to provide account number and postcode, both of which the sign in kept saying were incorrect after multiple attempts and getting someone else to review that what I put in was what was on my magazine. Just atrocious.

Their customer service does simply not work. Never experienced anything like it. If feels a bit like Kafka.

Among the worst websites that I have had to deal with. The website does not allow me to change the address of the print edition. It also does not allow me to cancel the automatic renewal. I should not have to speak with a customer service rep to get this done. In addition, last year I spoke with customer service and they ended up creating and billing for a second subscription when I called to change our address.

I'm cancelling my print subscription after two years, entirely because of their customer service. All I wanted was to renew one of my two household subscriptions at the promotional rate they'd emailed me about, and let the other lapse. Simple enough, I thought. Instead I got four different agents, each sending back a generic reply that repeated my question back to me and then answered something else. They tried to charge my card twice, three months before renewal was due, then applied the payment to the wrong account with the wrong dates. Two months on, I still have no written confirmation of the promotional gift, or that I won't end up paying for two overlapping terms. Great magazine. Shame about everything around it.

After 30 years as a subscriber to The New Yorker, this is how Condé Nast treated me. About a year ago, Condé Nast offered me a FREE subscription to Wired. I accepted it because it was presented as free. One year later, I found a $30 charge from Condé Nast on my PayPal account. I received no renewal notice that I saw and did not knowingly agree to pay $30 for Wired. What happened when I called was even worse. I demanded a full refund. The representative refused. Instead, I was offered only a 50% refund if I agreed not to dispute the charge. Think about that. Condé Nast wanted to keep half of a charge I disputed and wanted me to give up my right to challenge it. I refused. I consider this an abusive and deceptive billing practice. A “free” subscription should not become an unexpected $30 charge a year later without clear advance notice and a straightforward way to obtain a full refund. I subscribed to The New Yorker for THREE DECADES. Condé Nast lost a 30-year customer over $30 and the way its customer service handled my complaint. My warning to consumers: DO NOT assume a free Condé Nast subscription is harmless. Read every condition, watch your PayPal and credit card statements, and look carefully for automatic renewals. I would not accept another “free” offer from Condé Nast. After 30 years, I am finished with The New Yorker. I am finished with Wired. I am finished with Condé Nast. Trust takes decades to build. Condé Nast destroyed mine over a $30 charge.

Be aware that you can't cancel. The subscription boilerplate starts off "you can cancel at any time" but lower down there is a paragraph saying that although you cancel, nothing will be refunded. And, truth to tell, I had not read the whole thing. Was not satisfied with the quality—I thought it had dramatically changed for the worse since my last subscription. Found a mistake in an article. Tried to cancel my subscription, could not find a place to do that on the website anywhere. Called and found the gotcha. So consider me fooled.

For one of the most important magazines in the country, the New Yorker is absolutely pathetic with both its technology and its customer service. I’m always told my password is wrong, I’m always changing it, and I’m never getting to my account information. Calls direct me to AI, whose whole purpose is to screen its human CSRs (both of them?) from subscribers needing help. I can’t emphasize enough how unhappy I am with them.

Do not EVER hit "subscribe" because you will never get rid of these b*stards. Relentless emails that you CANNOT unsubscribe from. Unethical, intrusive spam. GO AWAY
