Generally, my experience with Newtek and its representatives was good. The only inconvenience I experienced was when I went to transfer funds from my matured CD I had to make a formal request in writing, rather than have the ability to make the transfer totally online as other banks do.

A lot of calls had to be made because everyone kept telling me to check fir an update ever 5-7 business days. Tool a month and a half but once I was connected to Ja’kirs she resolved my manual account opening issue within a week. And she constantly followed up vis messages

Recently opened a personal account and followed up with bank to bank transfer a few days later without problems. What new to me that the bank did not have any forms available on their web site, I called and was told by rep if I wanted to name a beneficiary to acct, send secure msg. I was expecting a blank form but was told to reply to msg with name, SSN & amt of beneficiary. Waiting for and update from them to verify if completed correctly. There is NO dropdown addressing any forms and also there is "NO" search on web site to look for anything.

One Star Review: I was willing to at least give two stars based off potentials of the company but I haven't even started & already dealing with complications. To what seemingly looks like a great place to bank, I just wanted a bit more information. I had already waitlisted myself but since this is something I'd like to open sooner rather than later, I figured I'd ask follow up questions & it wouldn't hurt. I was connected with Destiny. Answers received were cold & sharp, not exactly customer service. I was asking follow up questions in regards to the process and/or time frame expectations, but was rushed by a very copy & paste "anything else I can assist you with?" right before I was kicked out of the conversation mid type (which I know you see chat bubbles). Extremely disappointing. Updated: 1/28/26 I thought it best to show my original reaction compared to the one I have to say today. They almost immediately reached out after my post which was fantastic and I feel is a rarity nowadays. Joanna had contacted me after my initial review & what a breath of fresh air that she was! She apologized time & time again for my first interaction, continued with a great attitude as she very clearly answered my questions & informed me as to what I can expect in the future. The only thing that is keeping me from giving 5 stars is the fact that I'm not banking with them already! I'm super happy with the turn around & I hope to be banking with them soon (:

The experience I had trying to open an account with Newtek Bank was somewhat strange, as the application was not particularly user-friendly, and I had to try several times, including calling customer service. Fortunately, I was assisted by Kimberly, who was extremely courteous and precise, and thanks to her help I was finally able to complete the process. For that, I am very grateful.

Ja'Kira was conscientious and efficient in helping me solve my login problems... She was also courteous...

I recently opened my account with Newtek Bank & had some questions about my account. Spoke to Mark. I found him very patient & understanding of my needs. He reset my account & guided me to make sure everything was ok.... Very nice & easy person to work with....

I have a savings account with Newtek and I recently had to update my beneficiaries. I messaged and Katie responded quickly and professionally and helped me complete the required documentation and sent me verification. She was excellent. On another issue, Newtek would not let me add another banking account to my Newtek account which I thought would have made it convenient to transfer money between institutions. When I send money from checking account to Newtek, Newtek says it will take up to 5 business days to be available in my Newtek account. That seems to me to be extraordinarily long since I have other online savings accounts that can process a deposit and be available in my account within 24 hours.
