Worst Customer Service in the Industry
Worst Customer Service in the Industry I ordered once from Newark, owing to the convenience of sourcing parts with Eagle's Design Link. Never, in my dozens of orders with the likes of Mouser, Digikey, Jameco, Tayda, etc. have I encountered such incompetence/laziness in customer service. It started with an honest mistake on their part: a part was listed incorrectly with a minimum quantity of 1, and actually had minimum 500. I was notified via email and asked to call a customer service number. I called and had a very hard time understanding the accent of the person on the line and didn't want to rely on communicating things like part numbers and quantities, which are obviously best handled via email. I emailed and asked for part #X to be replaced with part #Y "in the same quantity". Two days later, I received an email asking me for the quantity for part #Y. I replied with the quantity. Another four days go by and I notice that part #Y is now listed as backordered. Somewhere in the 2-6 days it took their shoddy customer service to change one part number to another, the part had sold out. And I was not notified of the change. I email asking to replace it with another part. A day later I got fed up and asked to cancel the remaining half of the order, which hadn't shipped yet. They refused to cancel, and outright ignored my second part replacement request. Nowhere during this process did anyone admit to Newark's mistakes and oversights, nor did anyone offer bare-minimum, common-sense reconciliation like free expedited shipping. At this point I am so livid that I'm re-sourcing all the parts on Mouser and will gladly eat the return shipping costs to send my order back to Newark, just so they don't get my business. And to the Newark/Farnell shill responding to all these posts, I say whatever you're offering is too little, too late. Similar stories to mine on here going back years is a pretty good indication that Newark has zero intention on improving the quality of its customer service. Oh yeah, and eight days after they caught the initial mistake (incorrect minimum part quantity), the part is still listed incorrectly. Happy sourcing.
