Delivery: My first delivery was a day late. They said it was because of the Labor Day holiday… but they knew about the holiday, and could/should have adjusted the promised delivery date. Website/ordering: I don’t like how “the week of” date doesn’t match the shipping date. It is confusing. I signed up for some meals and then learned I would be in the hospital… the website does not allow you to make ANY changes, even if it is before the cutoff date for the given ordering period. Customer Service: I requested cancellation of the second order BEFORE the cutoff date, but they didn’t get back to me until the next day, and then said it was too late to cancel. Food: The food is not bad, but it is not very appetizing in appearance. I prefer a container with at least two compartments so that, when appropriate, the protein and sides are not all mixed together. I LOVE that the portions/calories are significantly less than Factor. I also like that there were plenty of meals with neither mushrooms nor green peppers. Packaging: TONS of insulation, even more than Factor; the meals were still acceptably cold even with the delay. Finally, the huge label makes it so that you cannot see the contents. I prefer the label on the outer sleeve.

The meals were very tasty and are portion-controlled which is great for weight loss. What I don't like is that they don't provide a specified time frame for delivery of their meals. My last order was supposed to arrive on a Wednesday but actually arrived a while day late on Thursday. I tried contacting their customer service department with a phone number they provided, but received a recording saying that no customer service representatives were available to help me. I then emailed them, and they responded that they were checking with the shipper, but never got back to me to let me know what the problem was or when I could expect delivery. For that reason, I have cancelled the service because there are many other fresh meal delivery services out there to choose from. I have also used Factor, which have very good meals as well. What I like about Factor is they send an email the morning of your delivery day specifying the time frame in which your meals will arrive. Metabolic Meals should do the same!

I have used Metabolic Meals for about 4 years, but may look elsewhere. Over the last 6 months or so, the meal options have started to decline. In addition, I get a lot of incorrect meals or missing meals and when asked for refund - they do not give refund for correct amount. I am not sure if they got new ownership or a new chef but sadly, I am going to look elsewhere for a replacement company.

The food is all gluten free which was important to me and tasted good. That's about the only pro. Their customer service is horrendous. They are terrible communicators and don't take responsibility for anything. The meals arrive two days before they are scheduled to, which means they spoiled while I was on vacation. I use the mobile view only, as do many people who do most things on their phone, and there is absolutely zero indication that the date may vary. Their "How it Works" page even says "reliable delivery!" Their rude customer service told me that it clearly says "week of x date" on the page where you pick your meals and that the date could vary "for freshness" or whatever, but it only says that on DESKTOP. Please go check with your QA/UX team about how your product actually works before being rude to customers, and take responsibility for your errors! I requested that they cancel all future shipments after being spoken to this way and they stopped responding so I'm stuck with another 2 weeks of this. Whoever does their deliveries is completely incompetent as well, I had to search all over the grounds of my large apartment building to see where they had left it. We have a package room, but they left it sitting outside the room instead of checking it in properly to the system so I would get a notification. The next week they left it near the mailboxes for the other side of the building, not even my mailbox. It could have easily been stolen in these places. The portions are also laughably tiny and I'm a small person with a poor appetite. Many meals don't even contain any vegetables or sides. I would recommend checking out some of their popular competitors with more balanced and larger meals (but the same price).
