I love my Livia! I have pcos and endometriosis so anything that will help period cramps is a lifesaver. Being able to slip it in my pocket and wear it while working has been amazing!

Livia helps me overcome my period. I was never able to do anything during my period because of the pain. Livia helps me conquer the pain.

I get my Livia because I was having severe pain from cysts in my ovaries. I wasn't able to move around or even sit most of the time this helped me be able to manage my periods.

I’m writing this review under the Livia Ambassadors program and will accumulate points for leaving this review, however my words and experience are truthful and entirely my own. Before beginning, I scrolled through a few of the reviews I could see, mostly the negative ones, to see if I could address any of those problems in my own review. From what I see, the problems most people who are not happy are having are to do with subscriptions and refunds which I have no experience with with Livia, and orders (and receiving them), which I do have experience with, so I’ll begin there. I bought my Livia in December of 2017. I don’t know where they ship from now, but at the time it was from Israel to Canada. I wish I could find the date it arrived, but I think I received it about a month later, give or take, which was about what I expected given the way it was being shipped. I don’t know how it is now, but I would say that if it’s similar to before, I would expect the package to take a while; just try to account for this when you place your order. As for the product, it is a TENS unit, which is not in itself new to treating cramps and other pains. At the time I researched it, what I found was that there is something unique about the stimulation pattern used which is why it is said to be superior to other TENS units for this purpose. As I happen to own several TENS units that I keep for difference purposes, I can say that I vastly prefer the stimulation experience of Livia to whatever the best pattern I can choose on any other unit is. Why? Because, with Livia, it’s on, and I know it’s working because, if I think about it, I don’t feel cramping pain; but I have to actually think about it, because otherwise I kind of forget it’s there. I like that. Sometimes, as the day goes on and the cramps get worse and I feel them again, I turn up the strength and feel it work for a few minutes and then I forget about it again. That’s what I want for my period pain management. I don’t want to have to be attending to it or distracted by it all day. With other TENS units stimulation patterns, I’ve never been able to get it to fade out of my mind that way. I’m always very consciously aware that I currently have period pain, for which I’m wearing a TENS, and I can feel it going. While it does reduce the pain, I don’t like that the sensation of the stimulation is always there. I’m busy. If I’m going to be distracted by the treatment, to me, that’s not functionally enough improvement from being distracted by the pain. Mind you, I have endometriosis, so I know pain. Both times I had my appendix out, I delayed going to the hospital until it almost ruptured, and actually did rupture the second time, because I thought it was period pain. I am on an IUD for it now, which helps, especially within the first year of getting it, but the IUD stays in for five years, and as time goes on, it gets less effective at reducing my periods and my pain, so I still use Livia to help as needed. I think for my last bit here I’ll do a little comparison of Livia to a generic TENS unit you could find for $35 on Amazon. Both units help with period pain (at least, for me they do), but I find the Livia makes the pain go away in a way that I kind of forget it’s there, where with the generic unit, I can always feel it actively suppressing the pain, which I find distracting and less helpful than just making me forget all about it. The generic unit is more versatile, so you could also use it for pain in other places with different stimulation patterns, but Livia is more specific, so I feel like it’s better at period pain management because that’s all it’s designed to manage. The generic unit is cheaper, and you can almost certainly get it faster than Livia which is expensive and takes a while to get to you. The generic unit is big, bulky, and ugly, where Livia is very small and discrete, and quite cute. Also, the electrode cords are way shorter, so they’re easier to tuck away, which makes a huge difference in concealing it for me compared to the headphone length wires of the generic unit. If getting any unit that helps you at all is what you’re going for, and you don’t want to spend a lot on it, go for a cheaper generic unit. For me, I like the cute design, and while I don’t need it to be cute, it’s also more easily concealed, which I do need. Most importantly for me, I feel like the Livia is designed to be forgotten about when you have it on, and that’s important to me when I’m busy at school or work and wearing the unit all day, so to me, it’s worth it, and I’ll certainly continue to have it as my first choice for period pain.
