Murphy Door started in a parking lot in Ogden, Utah, in 2012. Jeremy Barker, a career firefighter and paramedic, built the first hinge system himself because he needed to feed his kids and couldn't find a hidden door that actually worked. He built one. Then people started asking for their own.Today we're the largest designer and manufacturer of hidden doors in the country. We've shipped more than 200,000 orders to homes across America. We build hidden bookcase doors, Panic Rooms, Gun Doors, Secret rooms, hidden wall doors, French doors, storage doors, Murphy beds, mirror doors, Functional hiding furniture, floating drop down shelves, and the hardware that makes all of it move. Every piece is custom, built to order by our own design team, not pulled off a shelf. We run three plants, all in the USA: Ogden, Utah; Lexington, Kentucky; and a hardwood mill in Rigby, Idaho, which we bought so we control the wood from the log to the finished cut. Our hardware division, Murphy Door Machine, builds every hinge, every mechanical lock, and all the Murphy Bed hardware in house. Most of this industry imports hardware and puts their name on it. We don't.We've made the Inc. 5000 list seven times. NAHB gave us Best of IBS, Best Indoor Product, in 2022. We hold patents on our door systems. None of that means much if the door doesn't work once it's hanging in your house, so that's the bar we build to.Jeremy still works fire shifts. And is the Utah CEO of the Year by Utah Business 2026. This is still a family-run, American-made company, and we plan to keep it that way.

Savannah was very polite and friendly, she gave all the information to where it was easy to understand and know what parts or areas she was referring to. It was nice to know she would be available for questions. Also she told me what kind of finishing I needed to use to protect the wood, which was great because I didn't even think about that.

Vica did a great job reaching out and ensuring I was aware it was her and not a spam call as originally indicated on my phone. Only had a couple questions and Vica was able to get me not only quick answers but images as well.

We recently purchased a Murphy Door hidden mirror door for a customer’s home with a safe located behind it. Our configuration was approximately a 28-inch door in a 30-inch opening, and with delivery this is essentially a $3,000 specialty door before the small discount we received. I want to separate my opinion of Murphy Door as a company from my opinion of this particular product. The people at Murphy Door were excellent to deal with. Communication was good and they stood behind their product. Our original mirror door arrived with a significant full-height bow/warp. Murphy Door asked us to lay it flat in a climate-controlled environment and allow it to acclimate. We followed their instructions, but unfortunately there was no significant improvement. To their credit, they had told us they would take care of us if the warp didn’t resolve, and they did exactly that. They processed a warranty replacement quickly and kept us updated throughout the process. I actually consider that a big positive. Manufacturing and shipping issues can happen. No company is going to be perfect, but Murphy Door was perfectly accountable, which says a lot about the people and company. The replacement door did not have the same warping issue. The hinges and hidden-door mechanism work well, installation information was good, and we followed Murphy Door’s recommendation to use an oil-based finish rather than a water-based coating. Where I arrive at 3 stars is the fit and finish of this particular hidden mirror door relative to its nearly $3,000 price. From normal viewing distance, the finished installation looks very good. However, when you look closely at the mirror/glass edges and how the mirror interfaces with the surrounding door material, I expected a more refined finish at this price point. Our replacement also has a small raised imperfection on the concealed interior face. The customer was comfortable accepting it, so we did not pursue another warranty issue. I understand that manufacturing a large operating hidden mirror door presents challenges that something like a hidden bookcase may not. The mirror has to be adhered to an engineered/MDF-type assembly while everything remains flat, aligned and operational. I’m only reviewing this particular product—I have never installed Murphy Door’s other hidden-door products. One other thing buyers should know when researching Murphy Door reviews online: Murphy Door offers an affiliate program where customers/content creators can potentially earn money from resulting sales. They actually invited us to participate after our purchase. There is nothing wrong with an affiliate program, but it’s worth knowing that some online content may have a financial incentive attached to it. Look beyond polished finished photos and pay attention to close-up construction details. Overall: 2/5 stars. Excellent customer service, communication, warranty support and accountability. The hidden-door mechanism works well and the concept is great. I simply think the fit and finish of this particular Murphy Door hidden mirror door could be improved for the price. More photos to come: I’ll be adding additional close-ups of the mirror edges, interior side, fit and finish, and completed installation to help other buyers see the details that aren’t always visible in finished promotional photos.
