If I could leave zero stars I absolutely would. It took our loan officer Damian Gallagher over two months to tell me that we couldn't do a cash out refi because we hadn't been in the home over a year. This should have taken about 5 minutes. Then he suggested a home equity loan and told me we would be closing 1/14. All along my bills were getting later and later. On 1/15 I asked for an update on status and he THEN informed me that my credit score was now too low to do the loan. If he had not DRAGGED his feet since OCTOBER my credit score would have been over 700 and this would not have been an issue. I also had an issue with the processor when we did our original closing with them that cost me delaying my closing for two full weeks AFTER my movers had already picked up everything from my old home and I had to pay exorbitant storage fees. I would NEVER in a million years recommend this company.

Unbelievably bad experience with this company and Ray Heller my lending officer, completely devastated when I was called two weeks from our closing date and told the underwriter has misinformed us by saying our place would be approved for spot approval through FHA. Myself and my realtor have been working with Ray for almost a year now only to get this close to closing after having to constantly track him down to communicate with us in regards to the process, then two weeks from closing he drops this bomb on us. Really wish I would have listened to the realtor when the first red flags showed up and I would have gone else where. He dropped the ball time and time again throughout this process and unfortunately now I’ll have to start over again. Such a big disappointment.

I never chose mortgage America. Somehow I keep getting emails with updates for someone that has the same name as me. After multiple attempts to get them to stop have been unsuccessful, I have decided that the next time it happens I will poach the client, as I work for a competitor. Get your ship in order folks…

My experience with Mortgage America was excellent. The people were both professional and courteous.

Our agent was not helpful in the least, we were given two different log in’s to enter information and when we asked if they had everything they needed from us he said yes but then underwriting was requesting the same documents. The two input systems either are not connected or the agent and the loan officer failed to look where they advised us to enter documents. Our loan almost blew up because the agent was unaware of what underwriting needed and did not reach out to underwriting or even look to see what was missing despite our numerous emails to confirm what was needed and where to send things to.

We were lied to and almost overcharged. Awful to work with.

Constant emails up to the very last minute asking for documentation. They could have given us a list of probable documents needed with a provisional list of possibles. Instead I got emails almost every day including the day before settlement asking for something that wasn’t easy to get. The person that I dealt with seemed a little annoyed at the end of the process which didn’t make me a happy camper. Even our financial advisor said the process was crazy and said we and those who were inconvenienced should be compensated for the company’s ineptitude and running us around like chickens with our heads cut off. Just when we thought we had everything submitted there would be another request. Beware!
