Panels didn’t fit, paint chips, and a five-week claim that went nowhere
2 panels didn’t fit, paint chips, and a five-week claim that went nowhere I bought a full matte black fairing kit from Monster Fairings (order AD459) for my Kawasaki Ninja 400. The kit looks good in photos, but the experience fell apart once it arrived. Fitment: Two of the panels didn’t line up with each other before I’d even mounted them. I didn’t force them onto the bike, I put my OEM panels back on in those spots instead. Paint quality: On the panels I did install, the paint has chipped from normal riding. I also found scratches/chips on two other panels, on both sides of the bike, and photographed those for the claim too. Customer service: I sent clear photos and video in mid-September. What followed was about five weeks of “we’re reviewing it,” “high email volume,” and “we’ll have a resolution Friday” (a Friday that came and went with no update). When the claims manager finally responded in mid-October, the answer was that they couldn’t see a fitment problem in the photos and wanted me to install the misfitting panels anyway, send new photos, and give them my installer’s name and phone number. No refund, replacement, or discount was offered for the chipped paint. The rep I dealt with day-to-day was polite and responsive, but the process seemed designed to wait you out rather than fix anything. Bottom line: If you’re on a budget and willing to gamble on fit and finish, maybe. If you need panels that fit and paint that holds up, spend the (very little) extra on OEM or a more reputable aftermarket brand. I’ll be buying OEM from Kawasaki going forward.
