AVOID MOMENCE AT ALL COSTS! I was really excited about the potential of the platform, but my experience has been HORRIBLE. I am warning you to please seek another platform before you experience the same issues I have. Their customer support is truly the worst I have ever experienced. My onboarding support person ghosted me and I haven’t been able to get a solution to my issues since I purchased the software over 3 months ago. Go with MindBody like I wish I would have!

Terrible experience meets incompetence
Terrible experience. Onboarded me incorrectly, resulting in a bunch of lost revenue. They fixed it, but not properly, resulting in more lost revenue. Then they tried to blame me & stonewalled me when I sought compensation. Avoid.

Customer POV
I am a customer, not a business owner, therefore I hope i can offer a different perspective.
From a user perspective, I don’t like it and I don’t get it. I am frustrated that the studio I attended switched to this app. Here are the major cons:
- no exploration: I can’t see what other businesses in the area have services. I really like MINDBODY for that.
- I now have two apps: because of this, I use mind body for my other fitness/spa interests with Momence for one specific studio.
- cannot delete account: I’m not wanting to attend the studio anymore, but I cannot delete my account. It tells me to reach out to the studio to cancel my Momence account. See below for full cancellation message.
- unable to reach out to customer service: in the app, I clicked the button to “send us a message.” that takes me to a browser where they force KB articles. Scroll all the way down, and you see “login to message.” So I do. But then it takes me back to my general account. It’s a loop that goes nowhere. I cannot find a support phone number.
This is absolutely shocking from rights to privacy and account deletion.
Deletion message: “You still have active customer accounts open with hosts. Please contact them to delete your account first to confirm there are no pending obligations, e.g. unsettled payments.”
What does this even mean? How can I have unsettled payments when you buy passes prior to receiving a good/service?

Hi Samantha,
Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. We've opened a ticket to get the login aspect of your experience investigated and addressed.
To address your remaining points here, regarding deletion of a customer account, sometimes customers will have contract obligations to address (like early cancellation of a subscription). We account for this possibility in our deletion messaging to help businesses and customers tie up any potential loose ends. If you don't have any outstanding charges, then your studio should be able to turn around the delete request in a timely manner.
And lastly, if needed, here's how customers can view other studios

If i could give zero stars… i would
If i could give zero stars… i would. The client review ‘feature’ sucks big time.
I never wanted this. BUT it is built into the system. After each class, the app actively solicits clients’ reviews of the class.
For you to see the reviews, you have to pay for it. You CANNOT turn this ‘feature’ off. So if a client receives a request to leave a review of the class, they assume it is from the studio. They leave a negative review - expecting the studio would follow up with the client.
But since you NEVER received the review, the client is pissed off.
And you acutually lose clients! Bcoz momence is greedy. They solicit reviews from your clients without your consent. And they want to charge you for it. And clients think the studio is receiving the review, expecting follow-up. Never happened.
They are pissed. So you lose a client.
Can’t wait for my contract to end. Moving to another provider.

We understand how important it is for client communication to feel transparent and supportive. Your concerns are being shared with our team so we can keep improving both the feature and how it’s communicated. If you’d like, we’d love to connect directly to walk through options with you in the meantime.

The software is fundamentally broken
The software is fundamentally broken. I am not going to go into all the ways this is true, but basically it is a bit of a mess. The main points that cause the biggest headaches are:-
There is zero facility to edit or void transactions.
Little thought has been given to customer credits and how these should work.
Audit trails and information relating to transactions is lacking.
The information sent to Stripe is utterly broken, no description or detail of the transaction and frequently missing fundamental information about who the customer even was.
Sales reports are also useless and not very accurate , particularly as there are incorrect transactions left that cannot be fixed or voided (see point re editing transactions). They also lack any form of customisation.
Company has been fundamentally unwilling to fix the glaring issues and made assurances before sign up that did not eventuate.
Honestly just stick well clear of this software. All it will give you is frustration and headaches.

Hey Zack, we're very sorry to hear your experience with our software has not been satisfactory. Our recommended best practice for (1) voiding transactions, and (2) transaction reporting is:
1. Voiding transactions: You can void transactions from a customer's profile: click Activity > History > locate the transaction > click the drop down to the right > click Void purchase. You can also refund this way in money or Momence credits. The act of voiding removes the transaction entirely, allowing you to recharge the customer the correct amount.
2. Transaction reporting: In Stripe, within the transaction details, you should find a breakdown of the amount, currency, customer info, and a detailed breakdown of fees associated with the transaction. If there's any info missing, flag it to our support team and we'll take a closer look. Sales reports will update to reflect void / refund activity made using the directions above.
We're always open to hearing suggestions on how we can improve and invite you to share your thoughts at [email protected].

Beware - don’t share your data!
Beware — don’t share your data.
Momence, co-founded by Matteo Carroll (Harvard MBA, Y Combinator alum), is one of the most dishonest companies I’ve ever dealt with. On a recorded Zoom sales call, they misrepresented a critical integration to induce me into a contract. I run an appointment-only wellness studio, made my needs clear, and was reassured their system could deliver. It couldn’t.
Trusting their word, I gave them one month of full access to six years of my client + sales data (2019–2025) so they could handle migration. I spent weeks setting up their platform, preparing to launch. Only the day before launch did they finally admit their software didn’t do what they promised. That is not a misunderstanding. That is fraudulent inducement.
When I demanded proof my sensitive client data was deleted, they sent me a sham “certification” signed only as “Authorized Representative” — no name, no title, no accountability. A middle schooler could see that’s meaningless. When I provided a proper certification letter requiring a responsible officer’s name, title, and signature, they refused to sign and ignored my deadline.
Instead, they now hide behind faceless emails signed “Momence Legal,” claiming they are keeping my records under “litigation hold” while still refusing to certify deletion. So which is it? Deleted, or preserved? Either way, it proves one thing: this company is evasive, dishonest, and unsafe with data.
If this is the best a Harvard MBA + YC-backed founder can offer, it’s embarrassing — for them, for their investors, and for anyone foolish enough to trust them.
Momence wasted my time, mishandled six years of data, and then refused accountability. Business owners: do not risk your client data or your trust on this company.

I have been a long term momence customer
I have been a long term customer of momence, over 5 years. Recently, I tried to make a simple change to my appointment structure. It was impossible. Took hours, and by mistake I added an extra location, because the appointment system was not showing me any venues that I had. Little did I know that would trigger a 10x price increase, which no one has been able to help with. Then my clients couldn't book becuase of the location issue. This product is fiddly to use as an independent/small business. To many options, that you have to go backwards and forwards to configure. It is confusing, and errors are impossible to avoid.
Response from momence.comAug 29, 2025
Hi Mollie, thank you for sharing your experience as a long-term customer. We’re sorry to hear about the challenges you faced with the appointment setup and pricing. We understand how frustrating it can be when the platform feels difficult to navigate.
We do offer a pop up warning for the step of adding a new location. This pop up clarifies the additional cost of adding a new location. This increase shouldn't be 10x. If you’d like to reach out to us to discuss the best plan for your business, you can contact us directly at [email protected].

Despite being clear about my business…
Despite being clear about my business model and needs I have been sold a product (not a cheap one) that is clunky and unsuitable. I have spent hours and hours trying to find loop hole and ways to work a system that is quite frankly shit. I have requested help and changes to no avail. I quite like the people that try to help on the chat but no matter how helpful they try and be they cant rewrite the program to meet my needs. Nobody has reached out in response to my frustrations and requests for help. The onboarding team didnt correctly transfer my data which I guess should have been more of a red flag.
Response from momence.comJul 15, 2025
Hey Carla,
We're so sorry to hear the product is falling short for your specific use case. I've reviewed your recent interaction with our support team and see that this instance is a good candidate for a feature request -- specifically one where, in Marketing Sequences, the purchase of a product can be used as a Sequence Trigger to generate an Action of tagging a customer.
While we currently have a long list of Triggers that include class purchases and subscription purchases, product purchases are not yet part of this list. I'll make sure to pass this feedback directly to our product team to vet in their roadmap decisions.
Our biggest and best improvements to the site come from feature requests like this one. So don't hesitate to share any additional thoughts you have on how we can improve at [email protected]. We read them all to understand the most pressing needs of our hosts in running a business.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts here and in your interactions with our support team. If there is a specific question you have about a data transfer, send specifics to [email protected] and we'll get you sorted there.
Best,
Momence Communications
