Milwaukee has Spyware/DRM embedded within their tools batteries. They added code within their batteries to log arbitrary and useless information that they can then use to void your warranty. (eg: if your tool ever reached a certain temp, the code will log that in your battery and your warranty will be void) You can find more information about this subject online under the name Milwaukee M18 protocol. You can also find a detailed youtube video that exposed this battery drm. I have used Milwaukee for several years and I will immediately be changing over tools.

Milwaukee head lamp started smoking when I went to charge. I only had the unit for 7 weeks took it back to Sydney tools and the agreement between them and Milwaukee is to send it away for inspection rather than replace on the spot. The accc states any major faulty item is to be replaced or refunded. Now I’m without a headlamp for 2-3weeks now imagine you brought a tool u require on a daily basis and it fails and you have to wait weeks for refund or replacement what a ridiculous policy. You just lost another customer lost not that Milwaukee cares as the man I rang at Milwaukee about my issue was rude and couldn’t care less basically said that’s the way it is ,not my problem.

I received bad batteries right out of the box and the warranty process takes so long that you will lose money and get your claim denied anyway. It is WAY better to switch to a more affordable brand since they are getting to the point that they are disposable anyways.

Warranty department is a joke. You can't return the tool to the place of purchase after 30 days. They make you navigate a confusing website and you'll need all your purchase information as well. Then you'll wait weeks for a replacement once you ship your broken tool back to them, The warranty department is designed to minimize the amount of warranty claims that they honor. DO NOT BUY MILWAUKEE TOOLS.

Bought the Milwaukee battery drill with impact driver. Can’t register for warranty. The code number on the drill is not recognised. No help from customer services. Useless. Will return it next week under the 30 day rule for consumer protection
