I've been using Midas shop near me for…
I've been using Midas shop near me for the last 12 yrs, but recently my son accidentally put diesel in the gas tank while we were on vacation. I had the car towed to Midas and they quoted me 999 to drain the tank and flush the system. When I got back from vacation a week later they told me they still couldn't get the car to run and would need to do additional repairs. A couple of weeks later they finally gave me a quote of 3,500 to get the car running again. My wife checked with another shop and they said that this is a pretty common problem. You just have to flush the tank and the car will run fine. They charge 500 to do the repair. I had it towed to the other shop and now the car is running fine. I called the Midas shop back and talked to the GM Ray who bad mouthed the other shop and would not take any responsibility for the fact that they had charged me twice the cost, did not fix the car and quoted me expensive repairs that my car did not need. I have five cars and I have generally trusted them to Midas for the last 12 years, and the other Midas shop where we used to live for 13 years before that, but I've been noticing that there has been a big turnover in shop managers in the last few years. I've stuck with them because they are my neighborhood shop but this experience has really shaken my faith in Midas as a company that I can trust.
