Ingrown Hair Nightmare
I saw the ads on social for a few months and was intrigued by the addition of the "sonic" vibrations opposed to standard dermaplaning. I have been shaving my face for decades with a good men's razor and very occasionally have some ingrowns but overall I have always gotten a close and comfortable shave that way. I believed that the tool would be an upgrade but have used it 8-10 times now, with little tweaks suggested by the company and/or instagram. Each time my skin is a mess within two or three days. I get deep, painful ingrown hairs and they seem to get worse each time I use it. I reached out to the company and they were responsive, providing several techniques to try to alleviate the issue, but none have helped. I was traveling over the spring and forgot a face razor, so I used a cheap disposable Bic single blade. I had no issues with redness or ingrown hairs, but two weeks later when I used the Sonic Smooth my face erupted again. I do like the microdermabrasion tip and use that once or twice a month but that's not worth what I paid. I will say that the company gave me a partial refund, which I neither requested nor expected, but obviously appreciate. I really wanted this to be live up to the hype but for me it's a no.
