I’m extremely grateful to have such an outstanding primary care provider. Dr. Mark Owolabi is compassionate, attentive, professional, and genuinely committed to providing excellent care. He takes the time to listen, explain things clearly, and make sure my concerns are addressed rather than rushed through an appointment.
What stands out most is the level of care, patience, and professionalism shown every time. I feel heard, respected, and confident knowing that my health is being taken seriously.
I highly recommend this PCP at Mec Star Fort Lincoln to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, caring, and trustworthy healthcare provider. Truly exceptional care from an exceptional provider!

I recently visited the MedStar…
I recently visited the MedStar Washington Hospital Center emergency department on July 6, 2026, seeking evaluation for severe referred pain stemming from an exposed dental nerve that was radiating into my neck. My ending diagnosis was a headache and I never stated I had just a headache. I spoke to many staff explaining that I have an exposed tooth and just came from a dental appointment, I am also experiencing my cycle, but thought to visit because of some sharp head and neck pain, which ultimately turned out to be due to the tooth.
While I went in hoping for safe and supportive care, the experience quickly turned deeply distressing due to a severe lack of communication, respect for patient autonomy, and unprofessional conduct from the staff.
During my stay, an unrequested medication was administered through my IV an hour after receiving Extra Strength Tylenol (500mg). When I voiced my concerns about how it was affecting me, the nurse, Genesis, dismissed my reaction entirely, claiming it was just a "baby-sized amount" of Benadryl and that it "should not make me feel a way." Instead of validating my distress, she simply handed me a small handheld fan and told me to "just breathe." When I told the attending physician, Dr. Randi Seidel, that I felt weird, she responded with, "Yep, I did that to you," and when I repeated myself, she said it a second time.
This completely disregarded my lived experience and bodily autonomy, causing an immediate, severe adverse reaction and acute anxiety, leaving me feeling completely unsafe and unheard in a medical setting where I was already vulnerable. For days, I felt immense brain fog on top of being a parent and having to take my child to camp the next day and function at work and school. Patients turn to the ER trusting that their boundaries will be respected and that staff will listen to how their bodies actually respond, rather than brushing off adverse effects with mockery. This visit failed on every level. I am sharing this public review to hold the staff accountable, warn others, and urge hospital management to reevaluate how they train their teams on patient consent, bedside manner, and respect. I am also pursuing this through official internal patient relations channels to ensure proper documentation and investigation.
DISGUSTING!

No longer going to Medstar
I will be looking for another doctor. I was left to wait for an hour for the doctor to see me on my scheduled appointment. I wasn’t given any information regarding delays. I left before the doctor saw me because that is unacceptable.

Unbelievably bad
Medstar - where you can only receive the digital PDF copy of your test results by picking up a print-out copy in person because the digital copy cannot be added to your online patient portal. Also, the results have been ready for over 3 weeks but there are zero notifications. And if you call to find out if the results are ready, they don't know and say someone will get back to you, but nobody does.
The medical professionals were fine. But if their practice is associated with Medstar and you are able, look somewhere else.

Administrative services are not good
I was referred to a specialist who is at Medstar and she's great. But the administrative services are not good. Most recent example: I was at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital yesterday for a test. They will submit the charges to my insurance, great. But I want to submit the parking and mileage for reimbursement from my health savings account and I need some documentation that it was medical-related. The receipt for my copay was sparse, all codes and acronyms, nothing that said the name of the hospital or address. I asked for a receipt that had that basic information - letterhead, basically - and the very nice person at the desk said I had to call billing. I got home and called billing, sat on hold for 25 minutes and got a whole bunch of attitude once someone picked up. After having to repeat a couple of times I just wanted a receipt for a payment I made and then sitting on hold, they told me that the charge wasn't posted yet, I could call back in 24 hours. The person on the phone gave me my patient number so I could try to find it in the online billing portal. (I had tried looking at their online billing portal but it told me my password was wrong; when I tried to reset it said it didn't recognize the username, even though I've paid bills online multiple times in the last two years. To log in as guest, I need my patient number, which was not among the many codes on my receipt, nor is it in my patient portal, which is different from the billing portal.)
The next day, I checked the online billing portal, no record of yesterday's payment, which is already showing up on my credit card. I called customer service again, this time she said it takes A WEEK for the charge to post in their system so they can send me a receipt. A week to get a receipt. This could all be resolved if they modified the receipts that print out at the office to have the name and address of the hospital. What a waste of their time and mine, plus one more thing that has to sit on my plate unfinished for a week.
I'm giving two stars because the customer service people at the hospital and the second billing rep I talked to were professional and as helpful as Medstar's procedures allow them to be. But the admin staff in my doctor's office are not responsive to portal communications. If I didn't like my doctor so much, I would switch away from Medstar completely. Will never choose another doctor in that system.

Very frustrating
Very frustrating. Didn’t tell me about hidden facility fees or cost of services. Told me they were in network but billed me 600$ for an X-ray. When calling billing was on hold for an hour and before transferring to supervisor, call was routed to an automated message. Never go back

While the professional staff are good
While the professional staff are good, the administrative services including website and payment are awful. No one answers the phone, website is clunky and cannot get into payment site to view bills. Very frustrating experience. Paperwork is also repetitive and frustrating. I wish I had looked closer at this aspect of MedStar before selecting them for medical services.
