I felt very discouraged by the advice and do not wish to continue with MedSchoolCoach…
I felt very discouraged after the session. Dr. Munjuluri indicated that my Step 1 score was too low to secure an interview. He did not bother to see my Step 2 or Step 3 scores.
He also advised he had very limited experience working with IMGs and wondered why I went to India for medical school. It is obvious he did not even read my Personal statement.
I see no point in working with a company where the advisor is telling me I have no chance of getting a residency (170 applications).
I am requesting a refund of $ 1300 to VISA 7266 used to pay $ 1600

Not worth it for Step 1
Overall, very disappointed with tutor for Step 1. I spent extra money on a Master Tutor who was not helpful at all. She ignored me when I suggested her method was not helping me. Toward the end of my tutoring I had to beg my tutor to give me her time and was constantly unavailable as we got closer to my exam. I had to fight extremely hard for a refund on the hours that were unused due to the lack of availably from my tutor, even though on more than one occasion I was promised a full refund by my tutor. She was far from encouraging, which really affected my confidence. Unfortunately, my score did not even increase ten points. I truly do not think this service is worth the money.

Money-grubbing sham
I utilized MedSchoolCoach’s primary essay package, and was woefully disappointed with the service I received. I reached out to them prior to paying for this service to go over my application and my needs with regard to my essay (mainly that I was interested in talking with a physician to brainstorm on the narrative of my essay, rather than just looking for grammar edits). Their point-man assured me that I would be able to have a lengthy initial conversation with my assigned physician to help them understand my needs and goals, and that my physician would provide substantive feedback with each draft and answer any questions I might have. That was all a lie. The “brain-storming” portion of their service amounted to sending me two single-page documents with silly questions that I could have found on google and absolutely no conversation with anyone. Every time I submitted a draft of my essay, my physician would give a sentence or two of typed feedback and that is it. Any questions I had would go unanswered by the physician and instead would be answered by the writing advisor, despite the fact that I was paying for the advice of a physician with adcom experience. Beyond all of the blatant lies that they told me, I really just felt like they didn’t have any interest in who I am or what actually motivated me to medicine. They wanted to coach me into writing the same generic essay that they get every other student to write.
Overall I was incredibly disappointed with the service I paid for. They are clearly just trying to extract as much money as possible for minimal effort. I would find another service.
Edit: and in case anyone is reading their reply, please recognize this is gas-lighting in the extreme and yet another clear example that these people don’t seem interested in doing their due diligence. No, they did not do 6+ revisions. They provided 3. The 6+ documents they are referencing includes the drafts I submitted. The person replying to me clearly did a cursory glance at my page, scrambling for something to discredit this bad review.
Further, they clearly did not even bother to read the review I left, as my main complaint with this company is that I was told I would have an ACTUAL conversation with my physician advisor to brainstorm about my essay and did not get to speak with anyone a single time, but was instead sent 2 single page documents with generic questions that did not provide any of the nuanced advice I was looking for.
Honestly, I am blown away by the response they left here. It’s one thing to provide a poor service, but quite another to provide a poor service and then try to gaslight reviewers and those reading reviews into thinking their service wasn’t poor. Truly a new low.

Patrick,
Sorry you felt this way! We always go above and beyond for our students and it looks like that happened here as well. It looks like we did 6+ revisions of your personal statement (you signed up for only 3). It also looks like we had extensive brainstorming with Dr. Li as well as written feedback. There are over 50+ emails sent between you and your advisors; unfortunately, it seems your expectations still were not met despite this.
We certainly wish you the best through the application process and on your journey to becoming a physician!

Maybe use for their other services, but not for the MCAT tutoring
I’ve had two different coaches with Medschool coach and have had no difference in my MCAT score after 3 months.
I bought a Master package to set myself up in the best possible way, but ended up moving down to a lower-hour package (at the master level still) to save at least some of the $6k that I initially had thrown into it, but didn’t feel like I was getting value for. The way their model is set up doesn’t seem to be in favor of helping students but rather helping their business. By the time I got into the swing of things (and $3k later) I basically had no more tutoring hours left and was far from feeling helped. I’m not sure if the tutors are incentivized in the right way behind the scenes. The time to get setup and re-setup also was rough and set me back almost a month (two week original initiation to get started & change in schedule between tutors lost me study time).
I did so much to get myself to a position where I could dedicate time to study for the MCAT as a non-traditional student and I’m painfully disappointed.
