⚠️ My Experience With Mariner Finance — Think Twice Before Borrowing I am sharing this review because I believe people deserve to know what my experience with Mariner Finance has been before trusting this company with their finances. I was a Mariner Finance customer for more than three years. I made my payments and maintained a relationship with the company. Then, in 2025, I lost my job and experienced a significant financial hardship. I was out of work for more than 32 weeks. In June 2025, I proactively contacted Mariner Finance and explained my situation. I wasn't trying to avoid my responsibility. I was asking for assistance, a hardship arrangement, or some type of reasonable solution while I worked through unemployment. I never received the help I was looking for. Instead, the situation eventually escalated into legal action. Mariner took me to court, and I am now dealing with demands for financial information and other matters through the legal process. What bothers me most is that I tried to communicate with them before things got to this point. I was asking for help during a legitimate financial hardship, not refusing to pay. My experience has completely changed how I view this company. I cannot speak for every Mariner customer, but I can speak for myself, and based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering a loan with Mariner Finance to do their homework first and understand exactly what they are getting into. There are also publicly available records showing that Mariner Finance has faced consumer complaints and significant litigation involving allegations concerning its lending and collection practices. Those matters speak for themselves. For me, the biggest lesson is simple: When you are doing well, borrowing money is easy. The real test of a financial company is how it treats you when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, my experience with Mariner Finance during one of the most financially difficult periods of my life has not been one that I would recommend to others. My recommendation: before taking out a loan with Mariner Finance, read everything, understand the terms, understand what happens if you experience financial hardship, and research the company and its history carefully. I personally would not recommend Mariner Finance based on my experience. And if you are currently considering borrowing from them, I strongly suggest you look at other options first.

I have had a loan with Mariner for a couple years and I recently checked all three credit bureau reports and not one of them has any payment history from Mariner Finance. I reached out to my local office and asked them about it, and I was was assured they report my payments, I went in and showed all 3 reports to the gentlemen in the office and asked why the payments aren't listed and was told he didnt have time to deal with it.

Sorry loan company miss a couple of months they will sue and their Lawyer for the Alexandria Branch Mr Fontana won’t even tell you a court date to know how long you have to pay the balance. After paying over 2000 still owing 1000 with their crazy interest rates! Sorry company and sorry lawyer !

Had the worst experience in my years of doing business with this company! I will get a part-time job, to help add to my balance ; and when I get it down to at least half : I'll sell an organ if I have to to be done with it! Never again !

Do not sign any documents with this horrible company! They do not tell you up front or on any documents or even on their websites that all loans will be marked as “SECURE” on your credit reports. I even asked in my initial phone consultation when the representative asked about my tv, if this was a secure loan. The representative stated it was not a secure loan. Nowhere in any document does it state “secure” loan but Mariner marked it with credit bureaus as “secure”. I now am hiring a lawyer to sue Mariner for falsely representing the loan. Do Not Sign with this company! In response to Mariners response to my review- NO they are NOT clearly marked!!! Absolutely no where on any of your website, Facebook , any social media, Credit Karma, NOWHERE is it stated that loans will be marked as SECURE! You scam people into secure loans. The phone conversation will be evidence in court!

very rude customer at the branch

Horrible!!! No customer service whatsoever. The guy didn't know what he was doing. Took 4 days of dealing with him and numerous phone calls on my part trying to get in touch with him. Never could get thru. This is the office located in ******. I dealt with them last year and had a wonderful experience with *****. this was 9*******...he needs to find a different line of work. He doesn't know what he's doing!!!

Awful company. They crucify you with predatory interest rates and refuse to settle for a lesser amount if you lose your job. Satans Business so Stay Away!!!! The will sue you until you are homeless and drain you of all your blood to sell it to repay the debt. Soulless awful business.
