Never received the item
Ordered this from UK but had no idea it went from France to the US and the back to U.K. Import duties add another 60% to the cost. I refused to pay the extra duties so hopefully am awaiting refund. Cannot fault customer service though. But need to make it clear to customer that their quoted price is not actual price if you live outside US.

Hi Diana We are sorry for your dissatisfaction, as you noted. All of the French Provence products that we sell worldwide are originally designed and fabricated in France and shipped to us in large bulk shipment to our office in the USA. We pay a small import duty of all the products to the US Customs Agency as each shipment to us clears the US Customs process. Below is a statement from British Customs stating the the import duty for cotton tablecloths (that is what you ordered from us) is as follows in this article on HS Tarrif Codes: HS tariff codes, import duty & taxes and restrictions for Cotton tablecloth https://www.dutycalculator.com/hs-code-duty-rate-import.../cotton-tablecloth/.../949/ Please find below a table with 10 digit HS tariff codes, import duty & tax rates and any import restrictions for Cotton tablecloth for 141 countries. ... Entry Processing Fee (Bds$10.00 charge on all imports). Belarus · 6302.51. ..... United Kingdom · 6302.51.0090, 12%, 20%. United States · 6302.51.1000, 6.1%, Depends on state. Please note that cotton table cloth imports from the USA to the UK have a duty of 6.1% of the declared value of the item which appears to the Shipping Label which we affixed to the outside of your parcel. This label is to give all pertinent information to the Customs Agent in the country where the buyer is located, and the buyer's delivery address is noted, along with our address as the location from where your parcel was shipped. You stated that your Postal Service told you the the Duty was about 60% of the cost. We would believe that the customs agent who calculated that excessive duty made a large error and you would have the right to challenge that at the Post Office by opening the parcel there and demonstrating that its contents was a cotton tablecloth, and the published duty on that type of Home Goods item is only 6.1% of it value, and not 60% that they wanted to charge you. Please contact me back and tell me the total amount that you are due for this purchase and we will mail you a check in payment, because you mailed us a check for payment, so we do not have credit card information for you from our card processor First Data to give you a card refund. If the UK postal system does not return the tablecloth to us because you refused to pick it up because of the duty, do not worry about that, if it never is returned to us by UK Postal.....someone there may have a nice tablecloth to put on their kitchen table. Best Regards Marge
