The airline will not refund cancelled flights and will artificially inflate rebooking prices to ransom your money. Other airlines are suffering but are trying to do right by their customers unfortunately MAS are taking a different approach and applying punitive procedures. I have flown numerous time with them but will never do so again.

Can we give 0 stars
Can we give 0 stars. MA will take thousands of dollars then cancell and refuse to refund or even discuss your case. They turn off emails unless you are an agent. It's horrible treatment and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Worst Customer service by Manager Tom and misleading and not refunding.
My parents flight was cancelled by Malaysia Airlines due to covid, travel date on 21 May. And when I called in April end, I was told I can make a different booking free of charge for 1 time.I told I will wait and making the booking later. So when I called on 20 May to make a new booking, I was told to pay the difference of amount. When I asked the agent and Manager "Tom", they refused me to transfer to case management team to raise a case and they were very rude. I wanted to listen to my call made in April where I was told, I can change one travel change free of cost. But they refused that also. Very rude customer service and the Manager Tom is worst. Worst customer service experience. I want to know why they are misleading customers and why I should pay extra when I was told otherwise before. When my earlier calls are recorded, why I can listen to them? Is it not my right as a customer?

3 months to issue a refund, took my booking much quicker!
How can a company think it is acceptable to make it customers wait 3 months for a refund? You took my booking (and payment) quick enough.
To avoid cancelling you flights and giving a full refund you cancelled just one leg of my fight making me have to cancel with you - and you expect customer loyalty?
Do not book with them, do not fly with them (their planes go missing), avoid them.

Malaysia Airlines are refusing to…
Malaysia Airlines are refusing to refund a ticket we has purchased in good faith with our tiny budget to help a wonderful videographer from Nepal attend our charity project in Manila, sadly cancelled due to COVID-19. I have been fighting them for over 2 months, spend over 110 minutes on international calls (mostly on hold), have been lied to, ignored, dismissed - and had my consumer rights breached continuously.

Save your money and find some other airlines
As many other travellers, I was looking for flights and deciding if to book with Malaysia airlines or Airasia. Even though Malaysian was a little more expensive, i chosed them. What a mistake! Just like many world travellers, if you go to SEA you go there for a few weeks and you plan and book ahead. Malaysian airlines cancelled my flight and put me on a flight the next day. They sent me an email. No questions, if the flight on the next day is good for me, nothing at all, you fly the next day. So I wrote to them an email to avoid significant roaming charges. In my first email I asked if they are going to provide any accommodation or any kind of compensation because i booked a hotel in my destination and now I was going to loose a night a paid for plus i needed another hotel in Kuala lumpur thans=x to them. They replied they are not going to do or to provide anything. I send a second email, where i just said fine. jus give me my refund for the tickets and that's it lets leave it then, I will sort myself out. No reply. Then I sent my 3rd email, no reply again. All they care about is to get your money and that is the end for them. No customer care, no intentions of helping or even replying to your email. I lost 200 euros, because it was for 2 persons. Anyway, I left it at that now, but just wanted to warn all other travellers, better book with other airlines but avoid Malaysian.

Do not fly with Malaysian Airlines unless you want to be treated like a second class citizen
We flew from Heathrow to Kuala Lumper then from Kuala Lumper to Auckland, When we went to check in 48 hrs before the Heathrow flight we had been allocated seats on both flights. On the KUL to AUK flight they had given us extra leg room seats which you normally have to pay extra for. We noticed that there was two extra leg space seats to the side. We read the instructions shown at the top of the page how to move seats. We moved to these seats and they wanted to charge us £90 so we moved back to the seats we had and they still wanted £90. We looked for free seats and there were none showing. I rang up customer service 3 times to try and sort the problem out and the staff were incapable of removing the £90 and they kept saying I selected the seats and would not believe they were allocated to me. Even customer service would not believe I was allocated the seats. Eventually I waited till check in was open on the second flight and suddenly free seats became available. I should have kept the original seats as the leg room on the Airbus A330-200 is the same at Easy Jet and Ryan air your knees touch the seat in front and are not suitable for an 10 hour flight and when the person in front tips their seat back the space gets less and the screen is about 6in from your face.
On the flight home from AUK to KUL there were only 55 people on the flight. When the flight took off I noticed all the extra leg room seat were free. I asked the air hostess if we could sit in them and was told I would have to pay. So clearly Malaysian Airways wants to put profit above customer comfort, other airlines will let you sit in these seats. The KUL to LHR flight was full because everyone was trying to get home because of the Corona virus. They had booked their seats at the last moment however they were given seats to the front of economy even though they had not paid to select them. Even though we had booked in advance and had had 3 flights with Malaysian they put us to the rear of economy so they do not care about existing customers. The male flight crew on this flight were terrible they only used one trolley to serve the whole of economy this meant the man handing out the food was much quicker than the person serving the drinks and he got 10 rows in front of the trolley this meant that every one had finished the meal before being offered a glass of wine and a bread roll which should have gone with the meal. Also these male attendants would not let people get back into their seats to get out of their way they just pushed pass you.

Stay away - appalling service
We received notice of a significantly rescheduled flight inviting us to cancel or re-book an alternative. Sadly alternatives all meant we would misconnect in HKG for our flight home. We cancelled and have only been given the tax HKD 1,500 with Malaysia Airlines keeping HKD 9,400 as a penalty (we were travelling on a restricted fare). Despite emails and calls we have got now where. The call centre is dreadfully and promises to return calls are never kept. They only thing they will keep is your money. Steer clear, and choose a different carrier.
