Booked some flights with this airline…
Booked some flights with this airline for an up-and-coming trip to Bali in May. They cancelled the flights (thankfully with 4 weeks notice, I see from the reviews not everyone has had that benefit). The 3rd party we booked with, who I will review separately, asked if we wanted refund or to try rearrange the dates, as per their terms and conditions. Malaysia didn't have flights that worked with our tour that we have booked, and to be frank, didn't want to risk being cancelled again anyway, so asked for the refund. I have been in touch with both the airline and the booking company who are both in the chocolate-teapot territory. Malaysia airline, however, have been particularly incompetent, to the extent that they said my flights were non-refundable and were patronising in their delivery. I pointed out that in the terms and conditions, that if the airline cancelled our flights or even changed them, we were valid in requesting a refund, and I sent the screenshot proving what I was saying. The person I have been communicating with for the last two weeks has now said its not their problem and have passed onto their sales team to handle, without giving me their contact details or any time frame of the refund. So far its been two and a half weeks, and they still have a significant amount of my money. Zero apology or recognition of what position this puts people in. £1500 is no small amount for them to just not return.
