As a Malaysian, I WILL NOT RECOMMEND anyone to fly with this airline. I am fed up with their irresponsible attitude and trying to lie their way out from any compensation. The flight was delayed for 2 hours, and I wasn't to get the connecting flight in Kuala Lumpur back to Penang. When you ask if there is another airlines available, the counter will tell you they have no idea. Even the supervisor is helpless. When asking for refund or compensation, they will lie their out, giving all sort of excuses, even if I have shown the Letter of Delay issued from MAS. This is just an irresponsible airline. As a Malaysian, I am disappointed and shameful of this kind of service. I strongly advise and recommend, STAY AWAY from MAS.

Dont fly with malaysia air if you’re allergic to peanuts!!
I can’t believe that Malaysia air insist on serving peanuts when somebody on the plane is allergic!! Do you even know how dangerous it can be? You can literally die because of the smell! Thats not okay.

Malaysia Airline tariffs and services
It looks as if airlines like Malaysian have taken advantage of Brexit abandonment of EU regulations on transparency, equal competition, etc. to quietly wring out their customers on tariffs, services, etc. on UK-originating flights. Much better for Kuala Lumpur bound flights to depart Amsterdam or Paris on reliable airlines as KLM, Emirates, etc.

Dreadful Experience
I was on the MH0160 flight at 9.10pm (22/5/23) from Kuala Lumpur (KL) to Doha. I was meant to transit in Doha for 1 hr 40 minutes, and get the QR0021 flight to Manchester at 1.20 am (23/5/23). Despite the delayed flight from KL (1hour delay taking off for no good reason), I got to the boarding gate at Doha on time but was denied entry. I was told that Malaysia Airlines had cancelled my flight on QR0021 (without the decency of informing me on the flight of their action). I asked on the MH0160 flight about alighting the plane as soon as it arrived at Doha to enable myself to reach the boarding gate, to which I was told they would be happy to move me to a seat closer to the plane's exit prior to landing but I was never told that Malaysia Airlines had cancelled my onwards flight to Manchester from Doha. There was another lady passenger like me ( departing KL to Manchester via Doha), who said she was meant to be flying to Manchester to attend a family funeral, and again the Qatar Airways staff was not allowing her to board the plane, despite our seats being vacant on the flight. I have since been given a flight for 14.35pm on 23/5/25 instead. When I asked about the earlier flight at 7.50am on the same day, I was told by the Airline desk at Doha that they couldn't book this despite it showing available on Skyscanner . I asked to speak to a Malaysia Airlines rep at Doha Airport, to which I was told to write to them as they are unavailable, which is just poor. My wife who flew 2 days before on the same Malaysia Airlines flight with my 2 kids, had an identical experience- ie being declined admission at the boarding gate at Doha despite being on time, and having to take a later flight. This means the delay in leaving by MH0160 and the cancellation of my onwards flight orchestrated by Malaysia Airlines is a regular occurrence. This is truly disgraceful and unprofessional. I am not sure if Malaysia Airlines intentionally cancelled my onwards flight to Manchester from Doha because they didn't want to deal with the additional cost of couriering my luggage to my home in the UK, as there is no way the luggage would have been transferred on time for my Doha to Manchester onwards flight. It does feel like Malaysia Airlines is not doing the right thing by its customers.

Beware Air Malaysia and their baggage fees
I booked two tickets online to Perth, Australia plus one 20kg bag via lastminute.com on 11th Feb 2023. Cost of the bag was refunded 17 days later'due to a system' error, but subsequently lastminute.com advise Air Malaysia refused to accept the 'bag price'. Air Malaysia also insist I booked 'light', i.e. hand baggage only. Three months later cost to book that one bag is over £900 or 37.5% of the total original fee paid. Beware.

Avoid if possible - no customer service.
Flew LHR to DPS via KL.
On two separate occasions, bags were delayed for six and seven days. No compensation offered and no assistance offered, Spend a little more and go with an airline that values it's customer service because MAS clearly does not. AVOID.

Bad experience and no compensation
I will say that when everything goes well it's a pretty good airline, seats are a little narrow but staff were very nice.
My lack of recommendation comes from having a 9 hour delay. Our first flight was delayed 2 hours so the connecting flight was missed and we got moved on to the next one resulting in a 10 hour delay in total, shouldve arrived just before 6am and we ended up landing just after 4pm.
I have been in contact about this assuming there would be some restitution but Malaysia Airlines aren't covered under EU261 at all unless your flight depart from an EU member state so because this was our return flight we got offered an apology and some loyalty points which won't be much good as I now will not use an airline not covered by EU261
