I flew to Penang on 20.7.22, this flight was hectic, heathrow was a nightmare and it took about four hours to get through security. I spent twelve hours having my seat back kicked by a precocious child and was unable to watch a film or reat properly, i mentioned politely to the father if he could ask his brat tostopkicking my seat back, he said, hes a child..ok so thats not the airlines fault..but thats what happened..My bag was lost en route as i had flown via KL but was returned afew hours after i arrived in penang, delivered to my hotel. So that flight experience was kind of ok, food options were tasty, i was thirsty and felt slightly ignored for drinks when the crew walked past, but hey its probably ok to not need the toilet all the time.. my return flight was amazing!!!! I was so smug as i had two empty seats next to me, so i could raise the arm rests and stretch my legs out, like being in forat class only way better!!!! Lots of attention and drinks offered by the crew..i was alottle bit meh after flight number one, but after flight number two ok i was lucky that time having super space and more pillows to make it comfier,and so on..the food was again tasty, the crew throughout were friendly and hospitable…i am happy to say i revised my view of malaysian airlines. They are very good and the flight was comfortable. We also circled over London and one could get a good look at the houses below, which is always a fun thing to do. No airline will beat singapore but malaysian airlines are very good. I will choose them again.

Great service and food options on the flight from the London to KL. Slight issues with the customer service on the way back to London but would definitely recommend travelling business class vs some other airlines.

Flew Kuala Lumpur to London Heathrow - Sat 20/06/20 - MH4. The following is based on a post flight review I've just submitted to Malaysia Airlines: We found the Malaysia Airlines check-in staff to be very friendly, helpful and efficient. It was all handled professionally. Aircraft boarding: Again sincere, friendly and efficient staff. One thing that did let you down was a gap between the top of the airbridge and the aircraft fuselage. There was extremely heavy (jungle!) rain which meant the door area just inside the aircraft was gathering water and the crew were having to put cloth down to soak it up. It didn't bother me as I'm a seasoned traveller but for any irregular fliers or first time customers it would not have looked great. That should have been sorted before boarding or the airbridge adjusted during that process to correct it. The crew greetings were friendly and professional whilst first impressions of the aircraft cabin were of it being very new and clean. "Good airline" it said to me. The loading was very light and you would therefore expect the crew to do things well. They did not disappoint throughout the flight; professional courteous, helpful and friendly. Inflight entertainment: SIA & Emirate's is probably some of the best across the industry but I did not feel as though the Malaysian Airlines system was lacking, especially on the movie front. I would have liked more games, especially for the kids, and perhaps a classical music radio channel. The latter adds a touch of sophistication and would appeal (be expected?) amongst prospective upper class passengers especially. The screen quality and sound were both excellent. Legroom: Very good. Food and cutlery: Fine. I thought the type of cutlery was weighty enough not to seem cheap but was also not as cumbersome or as clunky the metal stuff used ordinarily in a confined space. The type used was very practical and ideal for aircraft use. Summary: Allowing for my favorable impressions through a lightly loaded flight, the last time we flew Malaysia Airlines it felt old, tired and like a typically poorly run government airline. Truthfully? I was not expecting a lot to have changed for this latest flight but there appears to have been huge improvements made in the interim years. The combination of the most recent really nice livery, a new aircraft fleet and sincere, friendly, professional crew meant - in my view - that there was not a lot of difference between this flight and our outward bound SIA (benchmark?) flight. In fact, I would rate the experience slightly higher on this particular Malaysia Airlines flight - whilst allowing for very high SIA standards. I think I read recently - prior to Covid - that the airline has been struggling. I suspect much of this can be put down to 'perception overhang' from former misplaced impressions of the type that I carried prior to taking this flight. SIA clearly did Malaysia Airlines a favour where this reviewer is concerned! It seems to me that you just need to tell people about your "revamped" airline through a decent advertising campaign, something that should also be aimed towards instilling further pride and confidence into the crew through singing their praises. They deserve it from what I saw. SIA and Emirates are tough competition but from what I saw you are not as far behind them as some of your staff - or prospective customers - possibly feel. Just one further thing. There have been times we've looked at ticket prices and Malaysia Airlines' have sometimes compared unfavorably with others. I feel you need to bear in mind everything I've said above about what could be the potentially ongoing but misplaced perceptions. Price accordingly, thus winning customers back BEFORE expecting people to pay higher prices ahead of their "corrected" understanding of where Malaysia Airlines is at now. Just my opinion though. Pleasant experience on MH flights so far. Although cabin crew can be more friendly, flight has been punctual and food tasty.

Despite all their troubles & woes I really feel for MAS. I have lived in Malaysia for a number of years and flown back to the UK many times and pretty much always found them to be above average. My last flight was business to LHR on A380 and apart from the dreadful lounge experience in KLIA the flight was great. Sometimes their ground staff at KLIA can be a bit underwhelming and not always know procedures. Even when I use them in economy, again can't complain too much, staff always friendly and helpful, and if they can see you are a passenger who maybe likes a few drinks they will accommodate beyond the norm & keep you topped up!. Entertainment system is adequate but not ground breaking or class leading.
