I made the mistake of upgrading a flight. To get the upgrade, we had to fly to a second airport to be told no upgrade was available. After 2 hours of 2 overs 60's running between terminals, we got the upgrade. Malaysia offered a partial refund and then ghosted us. The whole flight experience was poor and health and safety was spectacularly lacking.

This is my first bad review ever
This is my first bad review ever
I have never written a bad review for anyone because my review can hurt someone's business. I am doing it for Malaysia Airlines. It's the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
Even right now, I am on a call with them. They put you on hold for hours and hours. The staff is so untrained, don't know anything. You ask one question and they put you on hold for at least 15 minutes.
I am talking to the 5th agent right now, and since the morning, all four other 4 agents promised to give a call back, and I never received any call from anyone.
Guess what, all 5 agents told me a different cancellation fee of the same ticket. It's laughable. And one agent once told me $400 for cancellation and then after 15 minutes $600 in the same call. Pathetic.
I would never travel with Malaysia Airlines!

Terrible Experience Still No…
Terrible Experience Still No Compensation for 6+ Hour Delay (Malaysia Airlines)
I experienced a major delay of over 6 hours on a Malaysia Airlines flight (MH022) from Kuala Lumpur to Paris. The flight was scheduled to depart on May 12 at 23:40 and finally took off at 04:55 the next day. Despite the inconvenience, no real assistance was provided: no accommodation, no proper communication, just a basic meal voucher that's it.
What’s worse: I am entitled to €600 compensation under EU Regulation EC 261/2004, since the flight landed in the EU with a delay of more than 3 hours and Malaysia Airlines is the operating carrier. But instead of processing the claim, they redirected me to the ticket seller (BudgetAir), who has also been completely unresponsive.
Malaysia Airlines can’t deny responsibility under international and European law. It’s unacceptable for a so-called “international airline” to ignore passengers’ rights and push the blame onto others.
Shameful customer service and a complete lack of accountability.
Avoid if you expect basic professionalism or legal compliance.

Slow Cash Refund
A relative of ours booked and paid for a flight but the eticket never arrived. He was told he would need to cancel the ticket and rebook. He did so and is still waiting for his cancelled ticket refund. They have been told it will be more than 30days before he sees the money.
Absolutely hopeless airline.

The worst customer service that has…
The worst customer service that has ever existed. My child’s pram was snapped by the airline despite being in a padded protective bag. I put a claim in 16 weeks ago and no response from them.
Ground staff in Melbourne Airport where rude, they sat my 3 year old at the opposite end of the plane and refused to help me get her moved beside me. Eventually another passenger assisted in a seat swap. When in KL they had an issue with our booked Lounge access. We asked for a manager she was rude didn’t care to assist and when we said we will never fly with them again she said I don’t care. Sums up the airline. Have since booked more flights back to Australia and would rather pay more than fly with these guys.

I don’t even know where to start…
I don’t even know where to start without a doubt the worst airline I’ve ever been on and this is actually the first time I’ve ever flew Business Class and every Economy Flight I’ve ever been on is much better.
1. The Staff don’t handle Business Class customers well
2. The Business Lounge is highly overcrowded clearly they know this but don’t do anything for a solution.
3. They made us carry our Suitcases onto a Coach to bring to the Airplane.
4. Even before that the staff who were handling Business class customers at the Gates were extremely unprofessional and just messing about on there phones.
5. When the flight landed we were stuck for 1 hour as they hadn’t handled correctly with the Malaysian Airport never happenned before in 25 years of flying.

The Most Inhumane Airline Experience of My Life — Malaysia Airlines, You Should Be Ashamed
I don’t even know where to begin. What I went through with Malaysia Airlines was beyond unacceptable — it was inhumane.
I was flying urgently from Perth to Paris (MH124 on April 10th at 3:00 PM) because my grandfather was dying in France. This flight, which was supposed to be my lifeline to say goodbye, was delayed by MORE TAHN 12 HOURS — it didn’t leave until around 4:00 AM on April 11th. Because of this catastrophic delay, I was rerouted via Emirates (thankfully at no extra cost), but I landed at 1:45 PM in Paris instead of 6:40 AM, missing my last chance to see my grandfather alive.
The emotional damage caused by this failure is immeasurable. I will carry this pain forever — and Malaysia Airlines played a key role in it.
But the real horror came after.
I had a return flight scheduled for April 17th at 11:25 AM. Due to my psychological state, I had a medical certificate advising me to delay my return to April 23rd. I contacted Malaysia Airlines to request this change, demanding that no change fee be applied considering the trauma they had already inflicted. I had proof of the delay, a formal complaint filed on April 12th, and certificates from licensed medical professionals. Their response?
$1600 AUD to change the flight.
That’s right. No empathy. No recognition of their responsibility. Just an outrageous demand for money from someone already in grief and mental distress.
What followed was a masterclass in incompetence and total dehumanization:
• Hours of phone calls with clueless agents.
• Promises of callbacks that never came.
• Management staff disappearing in the middle of critical cases.
• Me, staying up past 2:30 AM the night before my flight, desperately chasing people who had “escalated” my case but never followed through.
Malaysia Airlines had the gall to leave me in this state after already ruining the most important trip of my life. The total lack of care, professionalism, and basic humanity is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced from any airline.
In the end, I had no choice but to cancel my return flight entirely, refusing to give a single cent more to this disgraceful company.
This airline doesn’t just deserve a bad review — it deserves to be held accountable.
Avoid Malaysia Airlines at all costs. If your life or peace of mind depends on getting somewhere on time and being treated like a human being — DO. NOT. BOOK. WITH THEM.

They Double Charge You for Paid Extras if you Upgrade to Business Class
They refused to issue me a refund for the RM 209 seat selection fee that I made when originally booking an economy class ticket because I clicked on and paid for the business class upgrade offer.
So basically, they are penalizing/punishing me for spending more with them.
On principle, I requested to cancel the business class upgrade then so I wouldn't be double charged for a seat selection I can't use. They said no refunds for anything. Not the seat selection or the business class upgrade.
These people are ridiculous, hiding behind their company policies while simply refusing to do the right thing. Disappointing.
