My Experience (Update 12/19/17)
Updates: 12/19/17: Another brief update. As of 12/02/17 my refund has been fully processed. Ronaldo did a great job following up on the refund status, which was delayed because of my open dispute of the charge with my credit card company. Ronaldo also offered me a credit on my account as an apology for the ordeal. I am still sore about the amount of time I had to put into resolving this, but I am glad that MacMall eventually took responsibility and tried to make it right. I am changing my review from 1 star up to 3 stars. 10/11/17: Just a brief update. Ronaldo from PCM called me on 10/9/17, and apologized profusely for the ordeal. PCM has initiated a refund. I will update the review when the refund has been fully processed or if anything new occurs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Review: Let me preface this by saying, I have used PCM’s outlets (Tigerdirect, MacMall, etc) many times in the past both for business and personal purchases with no trouble. Unfortunately, my most recent experience has soured me. I ordered an iPad Pro on 9/13/17, I was given a UPS tracking number and was told it shipped that same day. I eagerly tracked the shipment and was pleasantly surprised to see that my iPad was supposed to be delivered on Saturday 9/16/17. I made plans to stay home in order to receive the package that day. A UPS truck arrived on my block about two houses down at a little after 7 pm, and I eagerly anticipated the package delivery. Unfortunately, I watched the UPS truck stand idle in front of my neighbors house for about 5-10 minutes, not once did I see the UPS driver leave his truck. Then the unthinkable, the UPS driver drove away. I checked the status of my delivery on the UPS website, and much to my dismay it read “Delivered” and listed the location of the package at my “Front Door”. That’s odd I thought, my Ring Video Doorbell didn’t alert me to anyone on the porch and no one rang the bell. I went outside and searched high and low for my package. I went around to my neighbors and my package was nowhere to be found. First let me say how amazingly stupid MacMall is for not requiring signature confirmation of delivery. Who does that? This is an expensive piece of technology. After my search for my “Delivered” package, I immediately called UPS and retold my story. I asked them if they wanted to see my Ring Video Doorbell proof, they ignored my offer. This ignoring of evidence will be a pattern throughout this review, get used to it. They started an investigation, which I was told would take 7-10 business days. When Monday rolled around I contacted MacMall, told them what happened and was happy to wait for the investigation to find my package. I asked them if they wanted to see my Ring Video Doorbell proof, once again they ignored my offer. On 9/28/17, I called UPS and asked the status of the investigation, I was told the investigation was concluded and to contact MacMall for the status. I then called up and spoke to Christy from MacMall, who informed me that my claim was denied and that UPS had provided “signature and delivery confirmation”. I once again offered to provide access to my Ring Video Doorbell proof, ignored again. I asked for this “delivery confirmation proof” to be emailed to me. Christy was completely unprofessional, had no compassion at all, and even had the gall to begin her email to me with “Good Day!". The proof provided by MacMall amounted to an affidavit by UPS that I had acknowledged receipt of the shipment. This was patently false. Furthermore, where was the signature confirmation? The UPS document offered as proof of delivery did not show any signature acknowledgement. In the course of reading through this document I found that MacMall didn’t even send out the package, a dropshipper called Ingram Micro LP did. I was told by Christy that my only recourse would be to contact UPS yet again. So I did. UPS said they were going to reopen the investigation, especially since I had proof via the Ring Video Doorbell, I have not heard anything since. I even went as far as to contact Apple and ask them that if I obtained the serial number of the missing iPad, if they could provide some sort of attestation that the iPad was not registered via icloud to me, they said yes. I figured if I could get the name of the person who registered the missing iPad I could further prove it was never delivered to me--my first piece of evidence is the Ring Video Doorbell security. I also thought I could file a police report with that piece of data. So I contacted MacMall yet again, and asked them to provide me with the serial number of the iPad that shipped. I spent over two hours on the phone with Apple trying to locate the iPad, all to be told that the serial number provided was invalid. I did my due diligence and contacted the dropshipper Ingram Micro LP and asked them to verify the serial number that MacMall provided, same serial number deemed invalid by Apple. Something very fishy seems to be going on. I am still waiting for UPS or even MacMall to look at the Ring Video Doorbell feed that clearly shows no UPS driver on my porch at the time of delivery. I’d also like an explanation why the serial number provided to me was deemed invalid--I even checked it on Apple’s “Check Coverage” page. I have wasted so much time to get to the bottom of this, and nothing. Neither UPS or MacMall have done anything to in good faith investigate this issue. Is UPS covering up malfeasance on the local level? Is it beyond the pale to believe that someone nicked my package? Why did MacMall not require signature confirmation? Why did MacMall provide me with a serial number that is not valid and cannot be found in the Apple's database? Most importantly, my have UPS and MacMall refused to view my timestamped Ring Video Doorbell Feed. I am at my wit’s end and am now disputing the charge with my credit card company. I really would like an amicable conclusion to this ordeal, but this seems to be beyond my reach at this point. By the way, if I haven’t made it clear enough already, I am still willing to provide proof that the delivery never occurred. My next step is to contact Apple, and question why MacMall is an “Authorized Reseller”. Buyer Beware!!!
