The website says that after sanding, it should only take 2 coats of paint to cover furniture. I've sanded done 3 coats and still aren't happy with the coverage. It's ended up being much more work than anticipated.

Good Morning Megan,
We are sorry that you did not have a perfect experience with our Lullaby Paint.
In reviewing your order, which was for a quart of semi-gloss paint, we believe that you are applying the product too thinly.
Typically a crib will require only two coats, and these will use up the entire quart.
You have already applied three coats and still have product left.
This suggests each coat has been applied too thinly.
Hopefully this helps.
Kind regards,
Your Lullaby Team

Terrible customer service, paint does have fumes, but looks good in the end
We had a terrible customer service experience with Lullaby. First, Lullaby sent us the wrong amounts of paint. When I called to have this fixed, the woman on the phone was very nice and accommodating and promised to send the missing paint out right away, saying it would arrive in 2-3 days. When the paint did not arrive 3 days later as promised, I called to check and found out that the paint had not shipped yet. Lullaby offered to send the paint overnight, but then made sure to let me know that it was costing them extra money to send me the 2 quarts I was missing since I paid for a gallon (and only received 2 quarts the first time) and to send it overnight - which was totally inappropriate given that Lullaby was the one that made the 2 mistakes.
When the paint finally did arrive, it does have some fumes. I spent about an hour painting, and felt that I needed to leave the house (I'm 30 weeks pregnant) and parents continued the painting. Now that the room is painted, it looks good and the paint covered pretty well. I would recommend ordering more than recommended on the room calculator, because it really took us about 3 coats to get a good even covering of the walls.

Dear Marni,
We are sorry that you did not have the perfect experience and decided to reduce your original five star review to three stars. In essence, we shipped exactly the product ordered, correcting the initial fulfillment mistake. The replacement product was shipped over the Christmas holiday, which caused the transit delay. In terms of the quantity of paint needed, it appears that you applied three coats from the quantity ordered. In cases where an extra coat is required, but the quantity of paint used is as specified, we typically find that each coat has been too thinly applied.
Kind regards,
Your ECOS Team

Painted crib
I've painted a lot of furniture before and I wanted to make sure that the paint I used for my baby's crib was safe. This paint was just that. No fumes and no terrible smell for my sensitive pregnancy nose. I read the blog and followed instructions on how to paint the crib, lightly sand it down, wipe it off, paint one layer let it dry overnight and repeat. I chose a white semi gloss finish and although the color is great I hate the finish. I absolutely hate it. The paint did not really go on as easily as most paints and coverage was not very good. I think that's probably because I have a dark colored crib. One week and 3 coats later and I now hate the crib and regret painting it. Even after giving it days to dry the paint scratches off easily. I'm thinking it needed more than a light sanding. This was a very very expensive lesson learned for me. I'll just stick to normal chemicals or just buy a white crib next time. I would give it 2.5 stars rounded to 3 because it is what it said it is. Baby safe paint.

Dear Dianna,
I am sorry that you did not have a perfect experience with our paint. From discussions it became clear that the existing slick surface needed to be properly sanded, so that it was ready for paint. A slick, impervious surface will certainly cause paint to have lower adhesion. In terms of the coverage, white paint over a dark color will require two good coats. If the surface is not holding the paint, this will reduce the effective coverage.

Decent primer/paint for what we needed
We ordered primer and paint (in a custom color) for our baby's crib. We were excited to find something baby and pregnancy safe, so we took the plunge and ordered. We did a custom color, and that turned out great - perfect match, as far as we can tell! Shipment arrived on time and in perfect condition. The paint was so-so as far as application. We typically use a pretty good quality Sherwin-Williams paint when we have projects, so that is the quality we're used to, and it certainly was not on par with that. Paint had to be applied very thin, or we got terrible marks in it. We did two coats, and overall I think it looks good. We got the semi gloss, and it's not glossy at all. In hindsight, I would have opted for a gloss finish for furniture instead.

color wasn't as expected
Paint wasn't too overly expensive, but added up with the shipping. Just dissapointed that the color wasn't close to what was expected.

Dear Nicole,
I am sorry that the color did not match your expectations. The issue arises when you choose a color by viewing it only on your PC. The color representation cannot be guaranteed since the settings for your screen can severely alter the how the color appears. For this reason, we always recommend that customers first order our free color chips.
Yours sincerely,
Your Lullaby Paints Team.

Overall great product, but difficult application
My husband and I wanted to paint one chalkboard wall in our baby's nursery, so I spent a lot of time researching no VOC paint options on the market and kept landing on rave reviews for Lullaby Paints. The website had a lot of great information and we also found the paint calculator easy to use and helpful in terms of how much to order for our project. Overall, we were very pleased with the product. As promised, the paint was odourless and had a very nice thick texture for a chalkboard paint.
Cons - the application of the paint was very tricky. We needed to do 4 coats in the end and still have very visible roller marks on the wall, despite using a foam roller as suggested for the 'ideal' application of the product. Also, because we live in Canada the shipping costs were insane (about as expensive as the quart of paint itself). Last con to mention, after calling all of the Canadian vendors listed on the Lullaby Paints website we realized none of them actually carried the product (something I think the company has a responsibility to accurately reflect on their website).

I did not get my entire order
I thought I ordered 3 sample colors, but only received 1/3. Unless I am mistaken, I should have gotten 3 sample colors.

Meh.
We got a sample kit of your paint because we just needed to touch up a few spots on my son's crib before using it for our new baby. I'm glad your paint is so safe, but it's really expensive, so I was hoping a sample would do the trick. We waited for about a week and your website said it still hadn't shipped yet, so I wrote to ask when it would ship. I then checked the mail the next day and it was there, even though the night before your site was still saying it hadn't shipped. So that was weird, especially for something that I thought was going to require a signature- it was just in our mailbox. I never got an email response to my inquiry, but I figured that was just because you guys knew I was about to get it the next day. But then a couple of days later another kit arrived. I don't even know. That seems like kind of a waste of money on your end, but whatever. Anyway, I made the mistake of leaving them on the dining room table. My four year old opened it and ate some, because he thought it looked like applesauce. So I'm glad it's non-toxic. While I was cleaning up the mess, my husband put it on all the little chews and chips on the crib without doing a test patch first (I guess he figured black is black) and when it dried we were dismayed to see that it dried MATTE. I can't imagine anyone would want to paint walls or furniture in a nursery with matte paint, so I suspect you do this on purpose so that people can't get away with just using a sample kit instead of a full can. Needless to say, the crib looks terrible and will have to be sanded down and repainted. Our bad for not doing a test patch, but whenever it is that we finally have time for this project, we won't be using lullaby paints. It's just way to expensive for us, especially since this is now going to be an even costlier project. I would still recommend you to friends though (and have) because I like how safe your paints are. But only with the reservation that you're mail-order only where we live, and very expensive.
