The worst experience ever.
This is a serial review Every so often La Vinotheque adds some silly reply. The last reply has nothing to do with anything. The only thing they stand behind is false advertising and an anti consumer attitude. Nothing has changed except that I've ordered more wine from other merchant . At least 100 people have seen my review praising Marketview so posting is worthwhile. After my first posting . Vinotheque has replied then I replied etc. so please forgive the repetition in the review. At last reply LaVinotheque , after blowing me off for several months,, now wants me to call them to resolve the issue. Maybe they were waiting for the midterm elections to be over?? If they really wanted to resolve the issue, instead of pretending to give a damn (they don't really, they are just trying to look that way) so you can ignore their replies. They have my email and phone number so they can contact me anytime they want to. Their "reply" is just to make it appear they are being responsive. The mummy of a long dead Pharaoh would be more responsive. . What I want is simple and has been set forth in my review several times. I expect them to refund my money except for the cost of shipping me the wine in the first place and once that transaction has cleared, I will ship the wine back to them at my cost. They will have lost nothing. I can't be more fair than that. They also have my email so if they really had a proposal they could email me. Anyway, here is the original review in the order it was posted. Actually, I would give zero stars if I could. These clowns sent me a case of the wrong vintage claiming they couldn't get the requested vintage. A total lie as the requested vintage is available, I checked with the winery. All they wanted to do was dump a case of a lower rated vintage. They have refused to take the wrong vintage back even though I offered to pay for the return shipping. This was done through Vivino and even Vivino could not get the store to take back the wine. They lied numerous times to the Vivino rep. claiming conversations that never happened. They said they would take the wine back if they could get the requested vintage. I gave them the phone number of the winery's distribution center in their area. Still no response. This was a Souverain wine so it is not rare. In fact I ordered and received the wine.from another store after giving up on La Vinotheque. I have in recent time ordered over 40 cases of wine ( I'm replenishing my cellar) and this was the only problem. If you want a consumer oriented wine merchant, try Gary's Wine,, Marketview,, Wine Buyer, Wine.com, Central Wine,, One Stop, Empire Wine etc. in fact anyone but La Vinotheque. I didn't check vintage substitution. and my numerous emails made it very clear that I was only interested in the 2016. As a means of compromise I have offered to pay to ship the wine back and reimburse La Vinotheque for their original shipping costs. They have not responded. La Vinotheque is simply a rogue merchant. Vintage substitution must be the default option, I repeat I did not select this option. In any event the issue of blame is irrelevant. As a matter of consumer relations the store should take the wine back considering I have offered to pay for the return shipping and reimburse the store for the original shipping cost. This isn't an issue of rights, it's a matter of consumer relations. It is obvious from the merchant's non responsive response that it just doesn't care. If you check out the merchant's response to other complaints on other websites (google, their own facebook page, yelp etc. ) The merchant just doesn't give a damn about its customers. There are many fine wine stores out there that actually care about customer satisfaction and don't use the fine print to play gotcha. Frankly I have better things to do than get into a constant word battle with some insignificant wine store that says they are consumer oriented but does everything to show they are not . As noted above I have offered to pay for the shipping back and the original shipping so there is no financial reason for them not to take the wine back except that LaVinotheque is run by a clown who justifies his refusal to take the wine back by pointing out that maybe I failed to change the default gotcha option of vintage substitution even though my numerous emails made it abundantly clear I was interested only in the 2016, that LaVinotheque advertised but didn't have. Consumer fraud? Absolutely. The bottom line here is that I have crossed off LaVinotheque and Vivino as wine sources. LaVinotheque got me for a case of overpriced wine I will probably cook with(who knows when I try it I might like it in spite of mediocre reviews) . but I have ordered more than 15 cases of wine since the conflict with LaVinoteque and guess who I didn't order them from.. So instead of being consumer oriented , the silly people lost all my future purchases. LaVinotheque isn't just consumer unfriendly it is just plain dumb.. By the way since I am making this last edit let me put in a big plug for the Coravin wine system. It actually does let you pour a glass of wine from the bottle without opening the bottle. If you want to drink a glass of wine without wasting the rest of the bottle Coravin is the way. Note that you need their adapter for the new screw cap bottles if you want the system to work with the screw cap bottles and you have to watch out for artificial corks as they don't reseal like real cork. You have to reseal the needle hole Coravin makes in an artificial cork with a bit of wax or other substance.,. A Votre Sante. Apparently the truth of my posting has been giving La consumer rip off a hard time. The inconvenient fact is that I have been in contact with Vivino and posted reviews of Vivino . La consumer unfriendly lied to Vivino on several occasions claiming that La liar called me to discuss the matter. Maybe in some alternate universe, but not in this one. Vivino is nothing but an app and a shell for merchants. In this case I was in touch with La Vinodon't care a fig for consumers directly as well as placing the order with Vivino. I had been searching for the particular vintage for some time. La consumer rip off listed the vintage but didn't actually have it. They then claimed the vintage was unavailable and you can't imagine the trouble I went through finding out it was and in fact ordered the correct vintage from another store. La Vin o liars just keep posting nonsense replies. They think I don't have the time to keep responding to their lies. It is a pain to keep posting but I owe it to my fellow consumers and wine lovers to help them avoid getting ripped off. There are so many good wine stores out there but LaVinotheque is not one of them.

Thank you for letting us know about this. We've forwarded this message to Vivino.com the company that handles your order. That would be a more appropriate place for comments since you placed the order on their website.
