I recently purchased a puppy through Keystone Puppies and would describe my experience as just okay. While the adoption process itself was straightforward, several health and behavioral concerns came up immediately after bringing my puppy home that were not addressed by the breeder. The day after adoption, my puppy passed pieces of balloons in his stool, which clearly came from the breeder’s home. When I reached out, the breeder showed very little concern and simply mentioned that his daughters had balloons. This didn’t give me much confidence in the level of supervision or care the puppies were receiving. At our first vet visit a week later, my puppy tested positive for roundworms. My vet explained that roundworms are typically contracted from the mother through her milk, which suggested that proper deworming protocols weren’t followed. When I contacted the breeder again, there was no effort to help resolve the issue or even acknowledge responsibility. It took two rounds of treatment before my puppy finally tested clear. More recently, at eight months old, we learned that my puppy has only one testicle and will need surgery to locate the retained one in his abdomen. This is a congenital condition that should have been disclosed by the breeder. The biggest concern, however, has been my puppy’s ongoing fear of men. From the day I adopted him, he has shown extreme anxiety around men—hiding, barking, and trembling when left alone with them. My vet expressed concern that he may have experienced trauma before adoption. Even after investing in training classes, this fear has not improved and seems likely to be a long‑term issue. Overall, I love my puppy and am grateful to have him, but I wish the breeder had been more transparent, attentive, and supportive. The lack of communication and the number of health and behavioral issues made this a much more challenging experience than expected.
