We love our dog and the initial experience of picking our puppy was wonderful. Our puppy has settled into our home nicely, however, after 5 months with our dog, she was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia. We will do everything we think is best to keep our dog free of pain, and give her the life she deserves, however it is difficult not to wonder if this is a result of breeding. I would be curious to know if any of the other puppies from the liter are having the same issues or if this an isolated case.

We’re so sorry to hear about your puppy’s diagnosis and can certainly understand how upsetting and concerning this must be for your family. We’re glad to hear how much you love her and that you’re committed to giving her the care she needs. We do want to make sure you have reached out directly to the breeder regarding the diagnosis. The breeder provides a genetic health guarantee, and if the condition falls under that guarantee, he would be responsible for reimbursement of eligible veterinary expenses up to the original purchase price of the puppy. If you have not already contacted him, we strongly encourage you to do so and provide him with the veterinary documentation regarding her diagnosis. We truly hope she responds well to treatment and is able to enjoy a happy, comfortable life with your family.
