June Homes makes it a lot easier to find a nice home in busy cities such as Boston or New York, and you can be flexible on your stay (you don't have to rent for a whole year, for example). Support staff is very helpful, too.

Customer service is superb. Wide selection of properties with different filters available; good for flexibility / short-term stays. Pricing is based on an algorithm and will fluctuate. I got a good price in January.

I'm adding more details as the company has asked me to verify that I was a tenant, and more about my experience is detailed below. I truly believe that all of these positive reviews are paid for, as shown by their D- rating on the Better Business Bureau. Search on Reddit and hear so many other stories (my own in great detail included, as I could write a book about it). They prey on young people and overcharge SO MUCH and would not let me break the lease when moving in, despite the house not resembling the listing and not even seeing the property beforehand. My parents had to leave me in tears here, sleeping on a blow-up mattress because no furniture aside from the old tenant's broken items was left. I would attach photos if possible, but you can see them in my Google review (including the mouse in my 3rd-floor room despite not having any food out - that's how bad the infestation was). Friends that I have over agree with me that I have been scammed and are disgusted by the place, as does anyone who I explain the situation to. Absolutely the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of conducting business with. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. So many issues it's laughable as if I'm in some kind of twisted Black Mirror episode. I keep waiting for them to come forward and be like this was a psychological experiment or something, but NOPE. This has been one of the worst experiences of my life and has led to increased depression. I write this hoping to save others from my fate. As I read through these other reviews, I see very similar experiences to mine - furniture from the old tenant left in my room (and no furnishing, despite charging me for it), unhelpful customer service (I was lied to and told my room would lock from the outside when I leave as I'm living with 5 strangers, but they attempted to fine me when I put a removable lock on the room door), and SO MANY FEES. Literally $119/month on top of everything as a membership fee - probably going toward the unresponsive customer service team that has done nothing but worsen my experience here. Other tenants have broken things in the house, and then everyone is charged despite them not seeking out who is at fault. Also, rusty dishes left in the sink, hair all over bathrooms, etc. (as I found it when I moved in, and how it remained despite cleaning). I'm sure they'll charge me a bunch when I move out, even though I've maintained the space as I found it. They tried to charge me $20/month so that I could get reimbursed by showing a receipt for a very select list of 'qualifiable' housing supplies that I myself have to go out and get... Yes, you read that right. Over an hour on the phone, and finally they relented due to how ridiculous that was. House does not at all resemble the photos online (no furniture in the 'living area,' walls that were white in photos are green with purple underneath, which makes it clear that the photos are old, etc.) They tried to charge me for cleaning this room when it hadn't even been cleaned upon my arrival. I'm living in Dorchester, OUTSIDE of Boston, in the smallest room in a six-bedroom house, paying WAY TOO MUCH (almost $2k a month after all the fees), and in this heat, it's been so hot that I'm sweating in my room even with the AC as high as it can go and all the windows closed. Also charged $300/month for the flimsiest furniture that arrived late (first, a bedframe, two side tables, a desk, and a chair - I had to fight to get a dresser, which is a very slim item and holds hardly anything). There were men outside my door to deliver it early in the morning, and I had been given no prior notice despite calling and submitting a ticket to the June Homes team. Mice have lived here since before I moved in (already mice traps in the house), and the common areas are "cleaned" by cleaners they charge tenants for, yet the upstairs bathroom has remained in an unclean state since I moved in (I asked about this, and never received a reply). Same thing with tons of shower items from old tenants filling up showers, and an overflowing fridge with no space. There has never been a moment when I have been both safe and comfortable, nor felt like the insane price point is worth it, and I am SO EXCITED for my move-out date. 1/20/2026: Edit to reply to the latest June reply. I'm not sure why I'm getting another reply 2 years after this happened. Has there been an uptick in negative reviews as I predicted? When you treat people like this, that's what happens. Concerns were not taken seriously - tickets would go unanswered, and the mice problem was not fixed promptly. The terms said the furniture would be there when I arrived - that was not the case. It wasn't a disclosure issue; it was a failure to perform as promised. I have photo and email proof, if you'd like. I have evidence that a June employee offered me $100 to take down this review via text. Happy to share it!

Hi Brynn, Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear how distressing this experience has been for you. Housing issues can have a real emotional impact, and it’s clear this situation caused significant frustration and disappointment. June Homes aims to provide apartments that are move-in ready and aligned with what’s shown in listings, and we regret that your initial move-in did not meet those expectations. Concerns related to cleanliness, furnishing condition, pests, and maintenance are taken seriously, and when reported through our support channels, they are intended to be addressed through inspections, vendor visits, and follow-ups in line with our procedures. Fees, furnishings, and services are outlined in advance as part of the lease and resident materials, including what is included and what is optional. That said, we understand that clarity and execution matter just as much as disclosure, and we’re sorry that parts of this process felt frustrating or unclear. We also want to clarify that we do not pay for reviews or pressure residents to remove feedback. Reviews, both positive and negative, are important to us and help identify where we need to improve. While we can’t address specific account details publicly, we are always open to reviewing concerns directly and ensuring documentation and resolutions are properly explained. If there are any unresolved questions regarding your account or move-out, our support team remains available to review them with you. We appreciate you sharing your perspective and wish you the best in your next home.

Room had a lot of stains and visible marks upon move-in. I’ve recorded over a dozen of them during move in, which I’ve sent to the company. Yet, after moving out, I was charged for a stain in the corner of one of the walls which I hadn’t taken pictures of. Do not rent with June and if you absolutely have to, make sure you protect yourself legally because they will do anything to get your security deposit.

Hi Yifei, Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand how concerning move-in and move-out condition issues can feel, especially when charges are involved. When residents report pre-existing issues at move-in and provide photos or documentation, those records are reviewed during the move-out process to distinguish normal wear and tear from new damage. Charges are not intended to be applied for conditions that were properly documented as pre-existing, and we’re sorry if this did not feel clearly reflected in your experience. For privacy reasons, we can’t review specific account details publicly, but we’re always open to rechecking documentation and providing itemized explanations when questions arise. We appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback and wish you the best going forward.

Classic bait and switch rental company. They pay tenants for positive reviews. They will tell you that your building is in Boston even if it is in another city. Once you move into the home help from the 24/7 support is horrible. They gaslight and are confrontational. Their mission is to never have to do any maintenance including cleaning out the possessions of former tenants. Their houses are disgusting and the treatment of tenants by the company is disgusting. Please don't rent from this company or at least know you're getting into a horrible situation. They prey on those who can't afford a nicer place or don't have the credit to rent a nicer place.

Hi Tyler, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience led to this impression. June Homes does not pay for reviews or misrepresent property locations. Listings, pricing, and services are disclosed in advance, and resident feedback, positive or negative, is welcomed and used to identify areas for improvement. Maintenance and cleaning concerns reported by residents are reviewed and addressed through coordination with property managers and vendors, though we recognize that experiences can vary and that delays or missteps can be frustrating. We regret that your interactions with our support team did not meet your expectations for responsiveness or communication. While we can’t discuss individual situations publicly, we take these concerns seriously and remain committed to improving both service quality and consistency. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Scam rental company designed to siphon as much money from you as possible. June Homes has a ‘D-‘ rating from the Better Business Bureau. Rooms are not as pictured. Utilities are charged at random and for months after your move out date. Endless hidden fees. Customer support will do anything but help you.

Hi Dave, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that this was your impression of your experience. Pricing, fees, and utilities are outlined in advance in the lease and resident materials, and utilities are often billed after move-out once final statements are received from providers. We understand that delayed or unfamiliar charges can feel frustrating if the process isn’t clear. Listings are intended to accurately reflect the space at the time of posting, and when concerns are raised, they’re reviewed internally. We also take customer feedback seriously across all platforms and use it to improve transparency and service. While we can’t address individual account details publicly, our team is always available to review charges and provide clarification when requested. We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review.
