No opportunity to view the room in…
No opportunity to view the room in advance before paying the rent and deposit. The offered room did not match the video shown beforehand at all; everything was extremely dirty, and the common areas were filled with clutter and junk. The light and thermostat were not working. June Homes barely responds to emails, only stating, "we have forwarded the issue," but then nothing happens. They really give you the impression of being scammed.

Hi Brigitte, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear that it was frustrating and disappointing.
For transparency, our homes are typically leased based on listings, photos, and virtual information rather than in-person tours prior to move-in, which is outlined during the booking process. We understand that this can be an adjustment if expectations aren’t fully aligned, and we regret that the condition of the home did not meet what you anticipated upon arrival.
When issues such as cleanliness, lighting, or temperature controls are reported, they are reviewed and escalated through our support and maintenance teams according to established procedures. While responses may involve coordination with property managers or vendors, we recognize that delays or lack of clear follow-up can feel discouraging, and we’re sorry if communication felt insufficient in your case.
Feedback like yours is reviewed internally to help improve listing accuracy, move-in readiness, and response clarity. If you’re open to it, reaching out to our support team directly with your booking details would allow us to review what occurred and provide any relevant clarification.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your perspective. We appreciate the feedback and wish you the best moving forward.

Do not rent with June Homes Boston
My living situation in Boston this summer was horrible. I rented a room through June Homes for two months and it was the most disgusting, run-down place I have ever lived in.
The room I was assigned was located on the third floor of the house, but there was no indication on the rental website that this was the case. I had to lug my suitcases up two flights of stairs myself. In fact, nothing about the property resembled what was shown on the website - the photos suggest a newly furbished, clean space. However, this is a lie: the appliances were old, the walls were shedding paint, the whole house smelled moldy, and the room and balcony were shabby. Upon arriving, I noticed a nose-piercing disinfectant smell that filled my room. I asked June Homes about the smell, but received no response. Because of this smell, I couldn't sleep for the first three nights. The Wi-Fi password that they gave me was wrong, and I had to ask my roommate for the correct one.
I had my own room, but shared a communal area and bathroom with five other people. The bathroom was gross: the sink always had hair shavings around it, and the toilet had pee marks on it every time I used it. Shampoo and body wash bottles cluttered the bathtub, a clear indication that no one came in and cleared away the supplies after people moved out.
Half-way through my stay, the lock on the house door ran out of batteries. This meant that when the door closed, it could not be opened from the outside. As a result, for the remainder of my rental, the door was propped open all the time, which was INSANE. Anyone could have entered the house and stolen our belongings. My roommate and I asked June Homes to repair the door, but they said the onus was on us to buy a screwdriver and batteries, and fix the door ourselves. Then they will reimburse us for the cost of the supplies. This was their response anytime anything broke (kitchen light, toilet, shower...) - we had to fix them ourselves. If the responsibility is on the renters to repair everything around the house, then what on Earth do we pay our rent and maintenance costs for?
The kitchen area was an abomination. The fridge was filled with rotting food that people did not throw away after they left - rotting beef, spoiled cucumbers that have turned to a liquid moldy mush, expired milk. There were always dozens of flies swirling around the kitchen, and the communal trash bin was always overflowing. I never used the kitchen trash bin as I had my own bin in my room. One of the two kitchen sinks was clogged, and the other one was filled with dirty dishes that someone leaves from their breakfast on a consistent basis. I did not feel comfortable cooking or eating in the kitchen due to the lack of sanitation.
We had the option of submitting tickets if we had a question or concern. However, June Homes either circumvents the concern, tells you to fix it yourself, or ignores you. This rental property is not worth paying $1500 per month for. DO NOT RENT WITH JUNE HOMES. It will ruin your experience.

Hi Alice, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear how difficult and frustrating your stay felt.
We’ve reviewed the full communication and service history related to your booking. Throughout your stay, multiple concerns were raised and addressed through our support channels, including access instructions, internet credentials, cleaning follow-ups, pest concerns, shared space issues, guest policy enforcement, lock access, and maintenance requests. Our records show that our teams responded, provided guidance, scheduled visits where applicable, and followed up when additional information or access was needed.
That said, we recognize that shared homes, especially in older buildings, can present challenges, and that repeated issues can make even resolved items feel unresolved from a resident’s perspective. We regret that the overall experience did not meet your expectations, particularly around cleanliness standards, shared spaces, and comfort early in your stay.
Regarding maintenance and minor repairs, some items such as lock batteries and basic upkeep are handled according to the lease terms, with reimbursement options offered when residents choose to address them directly. We understand that this model may not align with every renter’s expectations, and we’re sorry if this felt burdensome.
We also want to clarify that concerns raised through tickets were reviewed and escalated when appropriate, including coordination with property management and enforcement of house rules where applicable. While actions were taken, we acknowledge that the experience still felt stressful and unsatisfactory for you.
Your feedback has been reviewed internally and is taken seriously, as it highlights where communication clarity, move-in readiness, and shared-home standards need to continue improving. We’re sorry that your time with June Homes was so upsetting, and we wish you the best moving forward.

Awful
Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience. June Homes was not entirely honest. Promised we get an 'extra free day to move out' as when I moved in, they said after 2. Moving out, before 10am and I already moved out a month earlier. Then June homes decided to take a portion of money out for the promised extra free day that I didn't use anyway. Also did not keep the place well maintained and asked me to do it once I moved in.
They also ignored when things urgently needed to be fixed and then would ask ‘why’ and for a picture after all the details had already been posted and then they would just close the ticket if they didn’t hear from you within 2 days. They are not communicative and will make your life harder. I couldn’t access my mailbox for 6 months and found I got jury duty way past, once they finally got around to fixing it- because I told them that I have the right to access voting materials. Utilities also skyrocket.

Hi Ashley, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear that it felt so frustrating and disappointing.
We understand how stressful move-out timing, billing questions, and unresolved access or maintenance issues can be. Rent charges, move-out dates, and any concessions such as free or prorated days are governed by the lease terms and the final account reconciliation, which is why adjustments don’t always align with informal expectations or earlier conversations. We recognize that this can feel confusing, and clearer communication around these details is something we continue to work on.
When maintenance or access concerns are reported, our process requires documentation so the appropriate teams or property partners can act. While this helps ensure issues are handled correctly, we acknowledge that repeated requests for details or ticket closures can feel frustrating, especially when an issue feels urgent from the resident’s perspective.
Mail access, utilities, and building-level services are often dependent on third-party management or providers, which can impact timing and costs. That said, we regret that these matters took longer than expected to resolve and that the experience felt burdensome.
We appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback. It has been reviewed internally and helps highlight where communication, expectations, and follow-through can improve. We wish you the best moving forward and appreciate the time you spent with June Homes.

Easy and Helpful.
I was surprised with how easy and efficient working with June homes has been. I was paired with roommates that I happened to really like which was a nice bonus. Having a cleaner come regularly and having the June service team to send tickets to is huge. Better than most landlords.

Easy renting in New York
June Homes made the experience of finding and renting a room in New York easy - there were no unexpected fees and I got my deposit back quickly - I’d recommend them if you’re looking for a temporary place to stay.

Total scam and unethical
Total scam and unethical. Overcharged in multiple areas with no explanation of the costs. I was charged multiple times a month for a “Rental Revenue Fee” (maintenance fees) that were only supposed to be a monthly charge per the lease agreement. I was charged hundreds of dollars in utilities per month and requested an invoice from ConEd. The ConEd invoice was extremely low compared to what me and the other roommates were being charged. June Homes declined to explain additional fees, costs, and additional charges and threatened to hit me and the other roommates with additional charges if we didn’t pay the unexplained charges.
June Homes doesn’t maintain the apartments or keep them clean. When I moved in there was cat fur everywhere, mold all over the bathrooms, and the kitchen had mice, roaches, and ants that they refused to address. All illegal to not handle these conditions. Any time you try to reach out for maintenance, expect a back and forth for days even weeks just to have your request not addressed properly.
Overall, an extremely unpleasant experience and I would not recommend. You will over pay for a small, dirty, and unsafe room with roommates you don’t know. I had a roommate stealing from me and June Homes addressed the situation by saying they “can’t get involved in roommate conflicts.” Save yourself the time, money, and drama and avoid June Homes at all costs.

Hi Aly, thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear how upsetting and frustrating your experience felt.
We want to be clear that June Homes does not apply charges arbitrarily or threaten residents over billing questions. Fees, utilities, and service charges are assessed according to the lease agreement and utility setup for each home, and invoices are reviewed by our accounting team when questions are raised. We understand that utility billing in shared homes can feel confusing, especially when usage varies by month or when third-party providers are involved, and we regret that this process did not feel transparent to you.
When maintenance or cleanliness concerns are reported, they are logged, reviewed, and escalated through our support system so the appropriate teams or vendors can take action. While shared living can introduce additional complexity, especially around cleanliness or roommate behavior, those concerns are addressed through established processes and house rules rather than being dismissed.
We recognize that repeated issues, delays, or back-and-forth communication can make an experience feel exhausting, and we’re sorry that this was the case for you. Feedback like yours is reviewed internally to identify where clarity, coordination, and communication need to improve.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We wish you the best moving forward and appreciate you sharing your perspective.

I was a resident with June for over a year and a half across two different apartments. I had a positive experience both times. I found it the to easy to book, good customer support, and worth the price. I also had great roommates.
