I think they are cheaters. They promised me that I will receive my refund 2500 . I received nothing

I have seen Jackson Hewitt for several years to file my taxes. This year I had a 3pm appointment and I was not seen until 4pm. When I was finally seen there was no apology for my wait and the tax preparer immediately launched into her ridiculous political ideology. I was there on time to get my taxes done,

I have been with Jacksonhewitt for a years. I have never been given a discount or any deals. They charge $200 for simple W2 taxes that i can do on Turbo tax for free. I would not recommend them. Go somewhere ales or get their new comers deal and the year after go somewhere ales cuz they don't care about loyalty.

Made an appointment over the phone and was lured in on the premise of a promotion they currently run for $49 for tax filings. once i arrived there at the appointment i have asked numerous times both in the office and beforehand over the phone if as a first time customer with them i would be eligible for that promotion and he assured me over and over saying yes i am and that all i would have to pay is that $49. So i got to my appointment and the guy behind the desk seemed to have somewhat of a language barrier, every other question we asked him he either didn't seem to understand or just couldn't answer even basic tax questions so he wasn't even that knowledgeable. After sitting there for almost two and a half hours he then happily informed me my total would be $265. they lure you in on fake promises, have amateurs fill out the tax forms for you and will end up costing way more than promised. i could've done a much better and much faster job using services like turbotax and it would've ended up costing me nothing as a first time user or much less than the $265 i was asked to pay! at the end of our visit he asked me if i wanted to apply for a no fee tax refund advance saying that i am eligible and could get at at no extra charge or cost and that there are no downsides to doing that, he basically persuaded us to do that, so i said yes for that tax refund advance. after i got home from the jackson hewitt office i got a message saying that i am not eligible for the tax advance refund and i will have to wait for the refund to be given through the state and federal instances. on top of that, 2-3 weeks after filling my taxes i get a letter in the mail from Republic Bank stating that we applied for a no fee tax refund advance and after reviewing my information they inform me that they can not grant me that loan. A LOAN!!! the tax preparer at jackson hewitt never told us anything about that and the fact that it was a loan! because he put me up for that they appeared to do a hard pull on my credit score lowering my score dramatically for nothing! jackson hewitt is one big scam and a big pile of dirt that will end up costing you way more both financially and mentally! WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND JACKSON HEWITT TO ANYONE, ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME, MONEY AND ENERGY!!!!!

Jackson Hewitt deducted money without any explanation. They charged me $484 as their service charge for my Robinhood shares, even though I made no profit from those shares. My husband and I filed a joint tax return at their Cayce, Columbia branch in February 2025. According to our W-2 statements, we were supposed to receive a $4,000 refund (federal and state combined), but Jackson Hewitt claimed we would only get $2,400. Meanwhile, my colleagues with similar tax situations received their full refund amounts as stated on their W-2s. When I contacted Jackson Hewitt, they had no explanation or justification. We both are an International student and our earning is very limited, the person took advantage of this. They scammed us.

I'm really disappointed by their lack of professionalism... I had 3 interviews, only to hear that they are not qualified to do my taxes!!!! What good are they if they can't advise me on my taxes??? (Especially as my situation is not particularly complicated or exceptional...) Couldn't they have told me from the start that they wouldn't help me? Another negative point: the lack of transparency about their rates (the advisor refused to give me even an idea of the cost).

Was scammed and lied to by one of their so called tax experts. He messed up my taxes not once but twice. Hey charged me for things I didn’t even have done. He was extremely unprofessional. I have a whole list of things I noticed that weren’t right. Well, my return got rejected and I have tried contacting the company and no response and regard at all. It’s probably because they dont want to honor their policies… figures. Weren’t they supposed to be there to help people?
